I really like the new workers automation AI, the old 100-worker-nightmare has been resovled quite nice. Specially in the road building and railway building, except couple of time I need to manually assign worker to prioritize the connections between some faraway cities (the link will even automatically connecting most of the cities along the way, great!), they generally would starting linking as soon as the railway becomes doable.
However, in the city improvement, AI is still AI, their choice are usually neutral in effect. When it usually works out fine, at the major cities in which you want to maximize the production this is NOT the best choice (military base or wonder racer). So at proper time you'd have to manully assign them start building mines and rid of those production-whimpy wind mill or cash-cow cottages on the hill.
Note:
1) Make sure you check the "Leave the old improvement alone" in the Option, otherwise, the centralist workers will go back and convert all those mines back to wind mills.
2) Make sure you check that option after the railway is done, unless you don't mind manully linking all the cities which isn't that bad.

Could we have some choice on the improve strategy in the city window? So we could enforce the workers working in that city automatically build mine instead of windmills?
