NOTW XXI: A Return to Foxford

The news of free beer quickly spread to the Miller, who decided to stop over at the bar at lunch.

Ah free beer, can never pass something like that up. Beer that is free just plain old tastes better.

As the ranger walked over the square he could detect a faint strange smell. He didn't know what it was exactly but it worried him. He forgot about it however when he heard the news of a free beer.

I gonna get myself a nice pint!

Vehem smiled. There was no ill in Creation that could not be forgotten when there was free beer...

Rheinmetall limped out of his small hut and grabbed his crutch. He took a deep breath of fresh air, and proceeded to the brewers. He muttered something and found himself a full beer mug. He downed it greedily. Only after this he seemed to notice the other villagers.

"Ahh. That's the stuff. Nothing gets you going like strong beer."

He turned around, his left leg or what was left of it, dangled limp.

"I'm going to fetch some fresh air for me lungs. See you later."

With that he slowly walked out of the village, following the road to east.

Sparrow the trader was certainly in a not a good mood today... Not only that incident took place but all he had is a bunch of useless metal ore and pipes. "But who would buy that?" Sparrow thought. He thought what to do more and more, until he heard a shout "Free beer!"
"Hmm, maybe that will ease up my thinking." He slowly walked to brewery to get his portion of free beer.

the villagers all go off to bed
Morning 1
The morning was oddly silent, as if even the birds in the air and the beasts in the woods knew...
A sharp Scream tore through the air. Vehem, Mayor of Foxford, sprinted from his house, gibbering and pointing back.
"dead, dead!"
The villagers emerged from their homes, and looked in askance at each other.
"dead?" "who's dead?"
Then, with a swear, Methos the Stabelboy come to the only possible conclusion. as Vehem lived alone with his daughter, the dead could only be Sonya...
The Stableboy ran into the house, and then emerged, carrying the limp and mutilated form of his fiance, Sonya, tears streaming from his face.
Vehem glared in anger at the villagers... "who did this!" he snarled....

Votes are now open

So, first I miss the free beer, and then there's this terrible murder. I am but a wanderer passing through, but clearly there are dark currents in this village...

See, told you nothing good would come out of this...

"Who would kill one of the precious babes I welcomed into the world! Who was it?" railed the midwife.

Alone in the crowd, he stood in silence. The village in peril? It didn't matter. The panic surrounding him? Irrelevant. Life itself? Meaningless.

Someone had done this, someone would have to pay. He knew that the others were as outraged as he, but who could be trusted? They stood and paid lip service to his loss, yet he knew that none felt the loss as deeply as he. Not even that scruffy stable boy, despite his protestations of love and cries of anguish.

No, the greatest loss was his own. Someone would pay dearly.

"Who did this?", he demanded once again.

Rheimetall emerged from his hut, like he did every morning, and grabbed his crutch by the door. He took a deep breath of fresh air, and coughed. He wasn't looking like his normal active self. He looked troubled by something. He approached the commotion carefully, peeking from behind the backs of others. As he saw the corpse of the young lady, he covered his eyes from the sight.

"Oh no. no."

He turned around, his left leg dangling lifelessly. Instead of merrily limping along to his morning walk, he collapsed on the bench in the front of his hut.

Trader was with others glaring at the terrible sight. Who could've done it? Sparrow thought.

I knew something bad was going to happen after that man came through, but by Sirona's Wisdom I didn't think something this terrible would happen. I must be off to pray that her soul may reach Sirona's clam embrace. If any wish to speak to me to get through this time I'll be in the meditation garden.

OOC :
Yeah, like it would be useful to know who that stranger is...

Sorry if it's been mentioned before, I'm tired and haven't paid attention really.

EDIT : Thanks, that was fast!
