Now THATS what I call a start location!

Gah! Have to buy Conquest! :(

So did the game generate a new land tile for the player to start on? Or was it really just modified?

I didn't modify it, I swear, so maybe I've uncovered an unknown feature of the map editor?

No one can invade that city until end of industrial age!

that seed map was made by the rng (or the makers of the game or seomting) and it puts starting locations in random locations..

I tried to generate the map with different numbers of players.. and there was no changes in the map shape.. only thing that changed was distribution of resources and luxes (with 31 players some players would start in fields of 10-15 of the same lux.. while with 8 players the same area would have perhaps 1 or 2 luxes).

No islands was ever added thou, and infact some landmasses didnt have any start locs by default even when others was pretty crowded (some unlucy civs would even start on volcanos or mountains).

I see the map is a huge map but using the ruleset of small map, so you must have created the map in the editor to make that happen (loaded the senario when the new game settings has small map set). Not sure how that island would have happened if you didnt put it there somehow (perhaps misclick with mouse?)

When all that is said.. there is another starting location on that map that is almost as bad... an small island, far from other landmasses.. 3 grass land squares, rest tundra :)

I suppose you're right, it must have been a misclick on my part. Sorry everyone!

Still, you'd have to be incredibly unlucky to be assigned a start location there!
