Nuclear Attack

Well, I sometimes nuke my own old ships just for some good 'ol fun. But I did use nukes once in a war, and I was the one shooting them. The AI shot back at me with like eight, six of which were shot down. Now the good side to this was that even though I had been the first to launch the nukes, another country, joined the fight, but on my side in reaction to the other AI using nukes. So now I just use nukes if I get nuked first, or if I have like three cities left.

Does anyone else see the foolishness of that? (AI declares war against power that uses nuclear weapons) Let me just understand, someone just used a very powerful weapon on someone else the AI thinks "hey, they just got torched, me too, nuke me!" I understand attitude and rep problems, but delclaring war against the offending power just seems stupid. But what am I saying, this is the AI after all.

These don't complement each other, these statements.
Yeah they do. Just that you took them out of context.

Once you destroy the bulk of their armies (the SOD in your territory), all you have left to deal with is the garrisons (the 2-5 in each city). And you should easily have enough forces to blitz that, because they weren't used up destroying the SOD.

No... There's the possibility of:

"Hey! They use those horrible nuclear weapons. We might be next. MAD principal!"

No, really, would it be wise to declare outright at once rather than wait a few turns for my nukes to be used up? Ah, I see..it's the AI...

A few days ago I tested TN's and ICBM's. I was the only nation with nukes. I got an attidude hit, and after several turns and maybe 10-20 nukes (mostly TN's) they started to declare on me, but not everyone did.

1. Except the range, what's the difference between TN and ICBM? I didn't test that. The ICBM should be much more powerful but I didn't notice this.

2. If the attitude hit is worse for striking a city directly, dropping it outside the city will also do much damage to the garrison?

1. The range, and the ability to move them.
2. Yes, it would do just as much damage.
