I think we all know it, Natural Wonders spawn near City States, usually in the third ring. And then the City State wouldn't touch that tile with a fiery spike. Good for us plenty of time to hard build a settler and go grab the wonder.

But playing Venice this is frustrating. You can't buy the tile and the puppeted city won't. All you can do is start building up culture in the city till it grabs the tile. And then it don't work it...

So all you can do now is trying to start growing the city till it decides to use that damn tile.

This takes alot of the fun out of Venice, quite simply.

It's another example of developers saying left and going right. If the Wonders should belong to the CS, then let the CS grab it and use it and force a military solution. Grab it like they do horses and use it. If it shouldn't belong to the CS then stop putting them all in their second or third tile ring.

Do what you say you are doing. Else you just insult your players intelligence.

I think it's just a coincidence the wonders are near the city states, and also if there is no benefit for the CS to take the wonder why would they spend several hundred years expanding their borders to a useless tile?

Extra culture may be useful for a city state, but happiness likely isn't nor is faith.

If they have the choice between grabbing another plains or hill and grabbing Old Faithful, they should probably ignore the latter.

I believe the code for Natural Wonder placement and City-State placement is similar, which is why they often end up close together. It's not really intended for the city-state to have the Natural Wonder.

u could use the military mod where you fortress a military unit until it takes over the tile.

This general issue is one of the reasons why I don't like the 2:1 default. On this setting I often see city states occupying tiles which make me cringe and want to relocate the city one (or two) tiles.
But since you can't raze a city state even if you capture it. :wallbash:

isn't the reason the borders expand so slow onto NWs is cause they count as mountain tiles
