OB01 - Time Gentlemen!

I prepare myself for many turns pressing enter and, well, press enter ;).

I switch research to Ecology as we have many health issues to sort out and swap to Refrigeration after it is researched and finally Genetics to kill off all unhealthiness.

Toko even comes along with a clam supper he wants for Starlight Express. I agree.

Alex comes a knocking wanting Railroad. What you offering Alex? Nothing. Hmmm. If only you hadn't declared on us twice...

I destroy Toko's Apollo Program in Nara. Sorry old mate...

My spy was caught trying the same to Mao and he actually completes it

I also research Robotics and use the GE to help rush the Elevator to stop Toko or Mao getting their hands on it.

Our culture war with Toko in Russia is paying off as Krasnoyarsk revolts (but doesn't flip). If it does flip we will flip St Petersburg as well.

Toko finally has enough and declares...

on Vicky!

Both sides ask for help but I'm not in a helping mood.

As there's not much we need I set most cities on wealth and those on our borders on culture.

I've set research on Future Techs.

We get the flip in Krasnoyarsk. I keep it and order up a batch of new missionaries for more culture pressure on St Petes.

I played 25 turns and there is 70 left.

With Cabledawg gone (hope nothing too serious there :)), one more trip around the three of us should see this done.

The only way I can see us losing this is if Toko wins a diplo but no-one is building UN that I can see.

What if we used the culture slider? Do we really still need to be accumulating cash with only 70 turns to go? Research isn't going to get us anywhere at this point. And I doubt that we have 3 cities about to go legendary (maybe Timbuktu).

Sorry to see you go, Cabledawg. You have been an asset to the team. Who's up next? I used to play after Furrie, but lately it seems that I have been playing before Furrie.

I've played 15 turns and have very little to report. It was mostly a bunch of pressing enter.

Oil Update

Tokugawa has 2 sources of oil inside his borders. He has 1 of them hooked up and is building Tanks. The other is close (2 turns?) to being hooked up. I was tempted earlier in the game to send some Workers that way to hook it up for him. The idea being that he would trade his spare oil to us. Unfortunately, I did not do this and that may end up costing us the oil.

You see, Tokugawa is no longer friendly with us. He is still pleased, but he won't necessarily trade any resource (or tech) with us unless he is friendly. We lost a point when he caught one of my spies up to some hanky panky. He was still friendly, though. A bit later, he came knocking asking us to declare on Victoria. Since our variant did not allow this, I was forced to say no. He dropped to pleased. On a side note, he did get Alex to declare on Vicky that same turn.

The next person needs to keep an eye on the trade screen. If he will trade us his spare oil, then grab it and upgrade those War Elephants. I would also strongly suggest that if Tokugawa asks for anything, GIVE IT TO HIM! He is the only AI that likes us, and he is a tough AI to keep that way.

Space Race Update

Mao completed the Apollo program on the previous turnset. He has 3 SS Casings in production. No parts are completed, yet.

I could not find where Tokugawa was building the Apollo program. At one time it was being built in Nara. As far as I know, he has not completed it yet. All of his cities are building troops. Mostly Tanks and Artillery at this point.

Alexander has completed the Apollo program.

Culture Flip Update

The city of St. Petersburg is down to one tile (the city tile itself). It went into revolt, but came out of revolt without flipping.

Two other Japanese cities are close to flipping, as well. Izumo is near Timbuktu and Kumbi Saleh. Dariush Kabir is on the coast near Athens. Neither has gone into revolt but are losing a lot of tiles to our culture.

I have the culture slider set at 100% with positive cash flow. Now that is an economy!

55 turns remain!

I forgot to mention in my report that we got another Great Engineer. I wasn't sure what to do with him, as there are no wonders to be rushed. Cabledawg at one time mentioned saving a couple of great people for an emergency golden age, should Tokugawa decide to declare on us. I put the GE to sleep with our GP from earlier.

I'm my report that i posted seems to have disappeared, oh well, no trouble.
I'll repost it, just not right now :)

I am going to be out of pocket for the next day or so. My son has been hospitalized, so I won't be able to play any turns.

Yess, i'm back, alive and kicking, once again, sorry about the recent not posting and such.
I played 15 turns (to 2010 AD) and offcourse nothing much happened

St. Petersburg flipped too us, so that planned worked perfectly.
Timbuktu has achieved Legendary culture, for what it's worth.
Victoria is dead, Victim of the Japanese War-Machine
I culture Bombed Orenburg Twice, gaining us 10 tiles or so from Alexander, who is BTW, building SS parts :)
I traded Marble for Hit Singles to Tokugawa :)

We have 40 turns remaining, feel free to either to play them away, or devide them in 2 :)

Sorry for the delay.

Essentially we are just playing out time as per the variant. I must admit I thought the end game would be more tense than this so good job team :goodjob:.

All three remaining AI are attempting SS builds and sabotaging our metals. Like we care...

I don't even think any of the three of them can research all the techs in the last 40 turns but will attemp to sabotage them where possible. I don't have much luck in this and get caught the first three times I make an attempt. Next two set mao back 2 thrusters.

I can't seem to locate any of Tokogawa's parts though, the sneaky bugger and he completes docking bay and cockpit. He still doesn't have ecology and genetics though.

Last turn I find the engine being built in Tokyo. 22 truns left to build and 20 left in the game. The spy decides to stay here for the moment.

I'll leave the honours to Conroe to see us safely home.

It's your game, Ozbenno, so I thought I would leave the honor to you!

OB-01_AD-2049.Civ4SavedGame

I played pressed enter 19 times. :D OK, I did a bit more than that. I lost 3 spies. Tokugawa was running through the last techs remarkably fast. So I sabotaged his Engine -- took me 3 tries to bring it down.

I tried to get him to trade us some oil -- I still wanted them War Elephants upgraded. He wasn't interested in anything less than 1700+ gpt.

Back to you Ozbenno. Press enter for us one more time, will you?

Well let's see, we've one turn left, we're 270 points ahead. I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best... :please:

Press Enter

Well it was an honour serving with you all :goodjob:. As I said before it was much easier than I thought. I really thought the last 100 years would be a struggle to stop a launch. Tokogawa and Mao's continual wars helped us out there.

The replay file if you're interested.

It really was a very enjoyable game. I've never purposefully intended a time victory, before. Your no declaring war variant added a definite and interesting twist to the game. :hatsoff:

This was also my first time to play the Oasis map. I must say, it is definitely a fun map to play! It is amazing that with our [pre-war] territory that we would have had no sources of iron, coal, or oil. Again, our variant made it even more interesting by forcing us to find other ways to acquire our resources.

Thanks for the game, Ozbenno! And thanks to the whole team! :goodjob:

PS: So when does OB-02 start?
