OB02 - Giving is Better than Receiving

Well the question is: who are we after next?

Either Monty or Mansu is the realistic options here. China are gone anyway and as GF pointed out Greece is too powerful.

Mansu is up 2 techs on us and Monty is down Steel and Steam Power. Well Monty seems to be the one. So lets work towards war with Mr Monty...

But first clear out Mao.

Mission accomplished.

I kept Nanjing, his other city.

Now onto Monty but I'll wait on Assembly Line first.

We build Statue of Liberty.

Assembly Line is in and time for Astronomy.

Time for Monty to say bye bye. We declare in 1918. IBT he blows alot of catapults on our four stacks for no losses on our behalf and sends in some cavalry, all are cleared except one lot near Bortmund..

Tlatelco is razed as is Tzintzuntzen.

Well we should be able to just continue the fight to Monty razing or adding his cities to our empire and then we have to choose between Mansu or Alex

McArine is UP

Interesting turns, I only played five turns. My pc has lots of trouble dealing with a 300k game, and it takes me nearly 3 hours to play 5 turns :(

We start out by losing Dortmund, I didnt pay attention so there it went. But not to worry I took it back two turns later.

We pillaged Tlacopan, took Teotihuacan and Tenochtitlan.

And in the second turn Alex decides that we occupy some of his territory. So he declares war and graps Nanjing.
I figure, lets get our friend Mansa to join the fun. He declares on Alex, and gives us 1260 gold and liberalism for assembly line.

Astronomy came in, and I started physics.

We have a lot of units recouperating. Alex is approaching us on both fronts, but I think that the scrambling of troops will handle it. Those 1260 really helped there.

And Mansa was willing to give us 9gpt for some coal.

Who's next?

Spoiler :
Preturn: Nothing.

Turn 1: Munich and Cologne Cannon -> Factory.

Ibt: We lost Dortmund.

Turn 2: Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Essen Infantry -> Infantry. Madras Cannon -> Cannon. Karachi Forge -> Cannon. Hangzhou Infantry -> Factory. Nanjing Courthouse. We take Teotihuacan.

Well join the fun Alexander and start a war with us, and makes a sneak attack and takes Nanjing. Mansa will trade Corn for Gems, allrighty. And I guess we better make this a world war, so I get Mansa to declare on Alexander, and give us 1260 gold and liberalism, for Assembly line.

Turn 3: Astronomy is in -> physics. Munich Factory -> Infantry. Jaipur Cavalry -> cannon . Shanghai Machine Gun -> Cannon. Tianjian Cavalry -> Cannon. We retake Dortmund -> Library. We destroy Tlacopan.

Turn 4: Munich Infantry -> Machine Gun. Beijing Cavalry -> Machine Gun.

Turn 5: Calcutta, Guangzhou -> Factory -> Infantry. Chengdu Courthouse -> Infantry. We take Tenochtitlan at the loss of two cannons. And Mansa gives us 9gpt for coal.

Postturn: Physics is in 8, we have a large stack of units in Tenochtitlan that can wreck a lot of havock. Next player should be aware that Alex is advancing on us on both borders, but I believe the cities can take it.

I'm up next but won't be able to play for a couple of days; if anyone wants to swop that's fine by me otherwise it'll be Wednesday, maybe even Thursday before I play and post.

I also played only 5 turns ... treat it as I played McArnie's remaining 5 ;) ... war is long turn, should have turned off animation ... else you will get to see Alex's cavs dying one by one for something like 5 minutes ... speaking of which, they all die the same way, fall down on the left side.

Anyway, inherited turns, things look very bleak in our eastern front ... Japur is expected to fall soon, I need to protect Delhi at all cost (our Wall Street is soon to be there).

Surprisingly, however, Japur stands IBT (you just get to see countless of Alex's cavs fall dead). It was Teotihua-whatever that falls back to Aztec's hand. Hmmm where did all those monty's reinforcement came from???

In response, I razed Bombay:

Amidst all these, an engineer is borned:

I started Pentagon, the engineer will completes 840 hammers, which is 2/3 of it. Next player should rush it.

Next year, the inevitable finally occurred:

In response, I razed Xochi-whatever:

Huh? What do you mean it's not Alex's city? Alex .. Aztec, what's the diff?

Remaining 3 years has been relatively peaceful, Alex decide to spread out for pillaging, so I picked them off one by one. Alex did made an attempt on Madras, I wasted some cannons on his stack. They are now hiding in a forested hill attempting to recuperate. Try pulling forces from nearby city to kill them off.

Alex's main forces is still in Japur. Watch it. Once he made a move west, starts to panic. We need to protect Delhi at all cost.

On the Aztec front, our main troops is resting in Tenochitilan, while a relatively small stack is now moving towards Teotihua-whatever.

The power graph is a tad bumpy for us, while Alex's is on a steady downwards slope since he declared on us. "You have chosen unwisely!" :hammer:

>>> Good Luck (1930AD) <<<

Got it. Looked at it. It occurs to me that we're overcommitted. Monte will pay us for peace, allowing us to focus on Alex. Wiping out Alex should give us domination near enough and he won't settle for peace until we start to hurt him badly.

Played 10 turns which is slightly time-consuming with mass warfare.

I have to admit that I started by ignoring advice from my team-mates:

1930.
ozd10000-1.jpg

This enabled me to reduce culture to 10%, research to 60% and I started on artillery (9turns).
Great Engineer sacrificed himself to build the Pentagon (840 hammers, went down from 35turns to 10 turns).
Started moving units towards Delhi/Jaipur.

1931 zzz

1932.
Attacked Jaipur, annihiliated stack there (lost 3 cannon, killed 16 cav, 2 rifles, 8 grens, 1cannon, 1 MG).

1933.
Capture Jaipur, capture Thessalonika (minor ice city).

1934 zzz

1935. Start seige of Bangalore.

1936.
Mansa builds Broadway, trade musicals for spices.

1937 zzz

1938. Discover artillery, start communism.

1939.
Capture Goth, capture Oxford.

1940.
It's Christmas!
ozd20000.jpg

Pentagon completed in Berlin (lvl4 units!).
Seige of Bangalore continues. Its been a real bloodbath there.
Lose Oxford  .
Capture Thermopylae.
Rushbuild FP in Madras.
We seem to be building palace in Frankfurt.

I check out what Alex would give for peace:
ozd30000.jpg

Not too shabby (no techs though). Maybe he's losing power:

We've also got a couple of GP stashed in Berlin.
Got a few options:
Continue war with Alex.
Fight wars with Alex and Monte.
Peace with Alex, resume war with Monte.
Peace with Alex, build/consolidate (2gps enough for GA?).

Re GP. We're building Oxford, not sure if the city has academy so that could use up GS. Tenochtitlan s a holy city without a shrine so that could use up Prophet.
I'm wondering if we should get peace frol Alex (maybe continue until he concedes biology) then turn back on Monte.

We're at a stage where we can crush any individual civ. Fighting two civs at a time is problematic because its difficult to concentrate forces around all our borders and WW is horrendous. Whichever civ we ain't fighting wil have time to recover and re-arm. We still need to eliminate one and a half civs to win.
Overall I reckon its best to keep pressure on Alex for now; take three or four cities; get biology for peace then focus on Monte again.

Hey, sorry about the lack of communication life has been hectic.

I was caught between finishing SGOTM3, starting SGOTM4 and preparing to upgrade my shed, which will take place this week.

Anyway I dont see time to play soon, so better skip me.
