Off topic posts shouldn't count

I agree with Simon and Bifrost! Why would OT posts be less than posts in the civ3 forums? Please explain???

And AoA and Lefty do a good job at keeping the spam down to a minimum, so I don't think there will be less spam in OT if the posts don't count... (in regards to getting 300 posts)

There would be more spam because people could argue that they are not spamming as the posts don't count anyway, and mods might be a little more leniant.

As long as I moderate, the Off Topic won't be so penalized.

This isn't Apolyton, you want to discriminate against posters, go do it there, HERE, we value what people say.
If you want discrimination, just head over to the demogame RPG forum. Right here at CFC.

Really? How about taking a tour through a "Babe" thread in OT then read through the "Religions of Fanatika" thread in the RPG. Tell me which one is spam.

The truth is there are spammy garbage threads in both forums. There are also threads with excellent content in both forums. The fact that the RPG is discriminated against is a travesty.

I agree with you Shaitan (took me 4 tries to spell your name, wow).

I don't see why RPG posts shouldn't count, if other Off-Topic forums (such as Jokes and Humor, World History, Off-Topic, etc.) count. None of these forums are necessarily Civilization related, except the RPG forum. The RPG forum DIRECTLY involves the Civ2 or Civ3 game, and using it for role-play purposes. I've skimmed through all of the rules there.

RPG posts should count more than Off-topic forums should.

I would agree that all threads that are not Directly related to Civ3 should not count as a post count. And as many other's have said... Why single just one forum out?

Also... as Padma said... Now aday's in the RPG it takes someone 30 minutes to make one posts.... and a good 2-3 hours just to read one thread.

Of course though.... I was the one who came up with the idea for the RPG in the first place ;).

Hey guys, I might be wrong but... it's just post counts! Why do you care if someone has more post than you? Do you feel inferior? Do you need to see a huge number by your name to be happy? I'm not trying to be mean but I'd like to understand your behavior. Why do you care for post count?

The server is too busy at the moment. Please try again later.

I like the signature. :) I get that at least once a day now.

Strider, I think you'll agree with me that the RPG demo games are DIRECTLY related to Civ, in the fact that they involve an actual Civ2 or Civ3 game?

There not Directly related to Civ as the general discussion forums and the actualy demogame, it's pretty much a simulation of living within the Civ3 world. :)

Alot of us don't care about the post count, but still think it is unfair to single out the RPG when there are many other forums like it or worst than it.

Also... with a forum like the RPG the post count is important. When posts stopped counting in the RPG we had many people leave.... People which is badly needed to make the RPG fun.

Honestly I don't care at all. After 300 posts anything else is meaningless for me. If it took 25 posts to get a custom avatar instead of 300 then I wouldn't care about anything over 25. The number of posts other people have doesn't matter a whit as far as I'm concerned.

I'm championing the cause for two reasons. First, it does matter to some people and I'm one of the moderators of the forum in question. I represent those people. Second, I think that it is very unfair to target one forum for post count removal.

That's a good way to take it, Shaitan. Sticking up for your forum is always good. :) And it is unfair to target one specific forum, when other forums are still counting as far as posts and probably have more "spam" or whatever. When I visited the Civ3 Demogame forum, I didn't see anything I personally would consider spam located there.

Thunderfall: Give RPG forums their post counts back!

Note to others: I haven't made a single post that I know of in the Demogames forums, so it doesn't affect me one bit. I'm speaking out for fairness on behalf of others.

I agree! :goodjob:

I wonder who does that...:mischief:

(Looks at self)

MODS- This was meant to be a joke to myself. I have stopped my spamming ways.

PLUS_Sorry to threadjack its real quick....can someone make my new avatar, (the smilie) transparent? Thanks in advance.

Make it like we can't see the postcounts anymore like in Apolyton, I wonder if you guys wouldn't care that much  ;)

Or we could all just go to Apolyton and stop complaining about the stuff they do that we don't. :p :mischief:

Anyhow, we used to do that. It was fine with me and I didn't care when the postcounts got reintroduced.

And I have a feeling that if posts didn't count in offtopic, some people would feel justified in posting spam and get their knickers in a knot when spam was cracked down on, and to raise their post count would spam the gamming forums, but that's just my thought. ;)

Despite what some people recently claimed, Cornmaster and I INVENTED the Demogame, I know all about it, since Corn and I worked out all the rules and wrote the Constitution.

We also modded that forum for more than half the first game, but Corn left staff and I didn't have the time for it any longer.

How you want to battle for your forum is your own affair, but it WON'T come at the expense of the Colluseum.

He suggested something like it in an Off Topic thread, something that Corn and I (it's was Corn's idea) had been tossing back and forth for about a week.

When we saw duck's thread, we went with it.

Duck also served as the first president (Corn was staff liason, and I was minister of defense).

All the game's concepts are Corn's ideas, modified by me, at a 70(Corn)-30 (Me) ratio.
