I take the liberty to open a new contest.
As the thread "ONE CITY CHALLENGE" shows is there enough interest on that topic around civ1 to open a new "official" contest. that maybe makes it a bit more interesting for new challengers, and of course "old" ones!

Informations on the game:
I propose a game on Earth map where u start as americans (yeah i dont like their color too but i have good reasons!) with the Atztecs nearby.
U are free to move ur Settler where u wish to raise ur city.
AND (i think that decision will be essential)
ur free to kill the aztecs to have aeons of "peace" or use them as trade partners with the risk to have an enemy beside u!
Goal of course is the landing of a spaceship, earliest landing wins!!
ALLOWED CHEATS are settler-cheat and save-cheat cause u cant retrace them!!
so use them or u wont be able to win!!
results will be post here, both files of the save, the replay.txt or if u wont get the autosaves. so please insure that u get them!!
hint: i play civ1 more or less constantly since early 90s but heard yesterday for the first time that as a bug the observatory never gets obsolete!!
SO LETS GET IT ON GUYS AND CATCH THE STARS!!!
do i have to mention that ur at no time allowed to have more than one city...?
