Whats your favourite "old game" ... Games that came before win 95 or for the amiga (except civ I of course?;))

My favourites are:

1. Historyline 1914-1918 (Fantastic historic strategy game from bluebyte)
2. Pirates! (Sid Meiers second most genious game)
3. North and South (Infogrames`funny real time strategy from the american civil war)
4. Super Cars II (Still the funniest multiplayer cargame in 2d)
5. Mega-lo-Mania (Another strategy-game where you play a god, and develop new weapons along the way)

Ahhh... I could go on and on nostalgizing (is that a word?) about old games, but I think these five are my favourites...

So whats yours?

YEAH!
Super Cars II rocks! And all the other games you listed, too. Another 2player hit on Amiga surely is Speedball II.:goodjob:

And Project X is to be mentioned, although it was single player. Oh, the good old times are calling. Time to reboot my A500.

Btw, does anybody remember M.U.L.E. for C64? Or Turrican I + II, which wiped everything out of this evergreen homecomputer?

Speedball 2:D I had almost forgotten it! One of the best and most playable sport games in histry!!!!

I only vagely remember games that i had for my C64 as I sold it when i bought my amiga... Remember Jack the Nipper and School Daze!:D

Mega-lo-Mania, Popolus 2, Doom 2, Nethack, Dungeon Master :goodjob:

OMG, the good ol' times....;)

Good Topic :)

Here's my top ten, pre 1995 games

1. Simcity 2000
2. Civilisation
3. Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe (aside: does anyone know of a modern game close to this one?)
4. X-Wing (it was basically SWOTL in space)
5. The Secret of Monkey Island II (best of the series IMHO)
6. Harpoon
7. Doom II
8. Gunship 2000
9. Master of Orion
10. Wonderboy III on the Sega Master System :D (I loved this game)

Yeah yeah! At last one other person who shares my craziness of Speed Ball 2. I spent so many time playing its league. My friends said i was crazy but I loved that game. I played at least 100 leagues :) no kidding.
And of course the rest of legend are:
Lotus esprit
Master of orion
Xwing/Tie fighter
all the Bitmap Brothers games (Gods, Speed B2, magic pocket, XENON 2!!! :D)
Monkey island and King's quest saga...

I won't say all the sid meier's games coz they're naturally included in my list even though i don't talk about them...

  • Crystal Caves
  • Pirates! Gold
  • Colonization
  • Transport Tycoon
  • F-19 Stealth Fighter
  • Some others I can't think of right now...

Genghis, Magic Pockets was unbelievably rubbish! I loved Gods so much and Cadaver (their second finest game after SB2) that I couldn't wait for it to come out but when it did I was so disappointed. It wasn't even fun!
Knights of the Sky and Legend were incredible for those of us who preferred thought to being able to wrestle the joystick into doing Zangieff's special move (it was like a spinning piledriver thing and was absolutely impossible on the Amiga despite the fact they gave you the move in the manual).
The first Lotus was better than the second or third despite the fact it had rubbishy graphics.
Sensible Soccer is still one of the finest games ever, but how good Kick Off 2 seemed before it was released! Sorry, Sensible World of Soccer is so much better it renders my first sentence here pointless. :(
And of course Elite and Frontier!!!! How has no-one mentioned these yet?
Pinball Dreams and Pinball Fantasies!!!!! It is impossible to make a good pinball game on computer and all other examples are rubbish, but these two were wonderful. :)
And can anyone remember the game of this shareware Amiga game that had 3 kung fu men on the same screen and you'd have to fight one another. They were all really gaudily dressed and the graphics were atrocious, but the gameplay was superb!!! In fact, you got some great games on the cover of Amiga Power (Brits only) every month! I played some of those demos to death!

Magic pocket is not as good as gods i admit but it's still beyond certain other platform games...
Now I've just forgot to say I spent hours and hours "lol-ing" playing International Karate on Amiga. God that was really fun and funny.
Lotus and Vroom definitely rock (lotus 1). I have Lotus 3 also on PC but it can't run on SDRAM PC, i.e. all the recent pc :(:(

PS: and for those who (the old grandpa :D) know the CBS console, there were Zaxxon and Ventures, 2 great hits.

Streef Fighter 2 on Amiga sucked a lot, Duke. Fortunately there was the 3DO and samurai showdown. I must admit i'm still playing SF2 and Samurai S on Neo geo, Callus emulators on my comp. Amazing games. Fun, no 3D but really fun and fast action. Click feast but ouch for our thumbs :)

Hey does anybody remeber the FIRST sim city, i still have it btw. Hmm lemme think there wasnt too many games back "then"

I do it was a great game and what an original cheat: Funds (or something like that).

Oh and one of my friends is trying to make a game similar to Mega lo mania but he is using Visual basic

I remember Nemesis. I used to play it when I was this small (lowers his hand at the level of his knees). I didn't understand a thing about it, but it was great. A guy jumping around killing other guys and sometimes a spooky ghosty guy would appear. You couldn't kill that one...

Fav oldies:
-Pirates
-Dune I
-Moonstone
-Jumpman
-Boulder Dash
-Gold box games
-Lot's of other game...

5. Lemmings

I completely forgot about Lemmings. We used to have it on some of our computers at school and all of us would be chomping at the bit to finish our assignments so we could play it. (And that was only if we were at a computer that had it. All our computers were different.)
Another one I forgot was Scorched Earth.

Lemmings was really cool, I always placed all lemmings between 2 blockers and then I blew them all up. At some point I was really good at it and could blow up whole structures.......kind of sad!
But lets talk about real old games, anyone ever owned an MSX computer? I did, it was some kind of C64 and it had great games like HERO, Zanac and Nemesis. Those were the days!
