Old Wonders - New Abilities

Aside from the Heroes, the only uses I could see are allowing you to build some of the more modern Oceanian or American cultures that have other cultures as prerequisites, and allowing you to build one of the few culture-requirement wonders. I wasn't really thinking of that as the primary benefit anyway, just as a small side effect that maybe fits the theme. In the same vein but easier to implement, maybe have it create a random Culture(<continent>) in its city.

Providing cultures that you don't have yet is Ellis Island's job. I'm waiting on a separate XML tag to allow a building to produce more than one free building in cities.

(I meant this for this thread, not my personal Wonders thread. It fits both in some ways, so I'll post it here too and see if I get any responses.)

I was thinking some more about the Ishtar Gate, and I think modifying the Python routine so it gives you a one-time gold bonus per civilization on your continent is a good and easy-to-implement idea. The trick will be to balance the gold granted by the bonus. It needs to be high enough to be significant, but not so high that it's completely overwhelming.

I loaded up the save game that I used for testing my changes to the Ishtar Gate and found I had 97000 gold saved. That means, as a rough approximation, I should set the gold bonus at about 1000 gold/civ sharing your continent (I had 8 civs on the continent -- GEM map in the Americas). I'm really afraid that that's way too high a bonus. So, the question I have is: how much gold do you usually have in your treasury around the discovery of Aesthetics?

Personally I typically have 10-20K at that time.

About the new Via Appia, there is maybe a little problem

I have my "main cities" in south west on the map. And 3 cities ttoally in north. Same continent. Lot of others civ separate these cities (if you want to know, I capture it with a good Neanderthal warrior and keep it because I love Mammouth units).
So, I build Via Appia, and all my cities are connected. But that help others civ by giving them some paved road and saying them "To find 3 cities totally lost in ice/tundra, follow the road"

But they never build Paved Road inside ennemies territory ^^'

The road goes through enemy territory (not just neutral) at the point in time it is built?

If so (@Volkarya) that is easily fixed by passing MOVE_NO_ENEMY_TERRITORY as a flag to the path generator when it constructs the path to be roaded in the first place. Alternatively you might consider MOVE_SAFE_TERRITORY (neutral or ours - not another player even if not an enemy), or MOVE_OUR_TERRITORY (just inside our borders - doesn't include neutral)

All the pathing tests, for both Via Appia and the Golden Spike, use MOVE_SAFE_TERRITORY. Maybe MOVE_SAFE_TERRITORY is counting civilizations you are at peace with?

Sorry, my bad, look likes it s OK
I reload a game, built it again and look like more : it passes between civs, but they love building cities near this new road. So some turn after, lot of paved road square are in ennemies teritory

What exactly do the Topkapi Palace?
It strenghtens Vasalls, but what does this mean?
And why it gives a 20% bonus to create a vasalls special unit? Is this a relict from AND or something? I'm not sure if there are any special units in C2C.

It's a relict.
Special units means Unique unit, known in C2C as culture units.
Iirc Dancing Hoskuld said he wants to update this specific wonder.

Ok, great someone is going to update it.

1)I mentioned it in the Bug Thread already, but I will post it here again: you can't build the Shaolin Temple beyond the classical Era, but it requires a medival Tech.

2) The Clockpunk Wonder is very cheap, isn't it? I think it should get the costs doubled, or is it a "special case" wonder?

3) Universal Healthcare has "+1 Population in every city" AND "gives a one time population boost in your cities"

4) Zebra Trainer goes obsolete at Aviation while all other Megafaune wonders do so on cavalery tactics or armoured cavalery. Also, I think they still get a bonus from Tourism.

2. That one may have been missed in the cost increase cycle.

3. That is probably just a duplication in the help text.

It was added to C2C before cultures were. At one stage I was about half way to getting it give you the base culture of your vassals which would make it quire powerful.

IIRC "Strengthens vassal" = it just gives it some extra money based on trade between you and the vassal.

Ah ok, good to know^^

I realized that the International Dog Show Wonder is quite weak. Is it possible to give it "+5% gold from every pet shop", like the reli shrines give +1 gold for every city with that religion?

Also, since you polishing the Tech Quotes, do you want me to go through all wonders and take a look if they have a movie, a "movie needed" or no notification at all for polishing issues?

Yeah its sort of an unfinished wonder. I also thought maybe it could give a free Pet Shop in every city. I will have to think about what I want to do to make it more "wondrous".

@Vokarya

Perhaps the Silk Road should require Roads tech and make a normal "road" like all the other road making wonders do. What do you think?

but than the route should go from the one end of the continent to the other regardless if the teritorry is under your controll ore not

i mean the original silk route coneted many different countrys not just china
