Older Computer Games

The first game i remember playing on my computer was Tetris....and it had both Dos and Win 1.2 on it....oh and the ever popular Othelo :)

System Shock CD. You owe yourself to play that game through atleast once. For such an old game it still does story, atmosphere and immersion better than many of it's newer counterparts.

Kirby's Adventure. Its epic I tell you. Epic.

I hardly ever play new games.

I just recently got back into Rise of Nations, having totaly forgot how perfect of a game that was.

I recently got the Starcraft battle chest, and its surprising how well this game has aged. The graphics don't make my eyes bleed, and its really well balanced. The 12 units to a group is annoying though.

Two older games I played when I was younger (and still enjoy):

1. Carrier Command.

2. Strike Fleet.

Extremely enjoyable still. Those were the days of games - crappy graphics, gameplay that keeps you coming back.

Today, it's beautiful graphics, crappy gameplay. Someone got mixed up!

Edit: Another one is DX-Ball. Classic!

Anybody remember Dungeon Keeper?

That was an awesome game in its day. I wasted sooo many hours on that.

Yep, Carrier command was awesome. But I really wonder how you can still enjoy it.
I used to play it on my 520ST... Was there ever a PC version ?

Thanks.
I suppose it runs with DosBox, right ? (doesn't work with Vista of course).
200ko ? Amazing what you can do with 200ko.

Total Annhilation, Dungeon Keeper 2, Settlers 2 and Simearth. I used to play these games alot kept going back to em years after they came out. I couldn't get settlers 2 to work last time I tried, I had to download Simearth from that dog site can't remember its name now, haven't tried the others in a few years now.

Thanks.

Surprisingly, I don't even have to use DosBox for it - runs right out of the box, so to speak. I imagine it's that small because the graphics are not exactly that you'd call the world's best.

Still trying to find a map for it, haven't succeeded. Be nice to know where the enemy is.

Emu: the-underdogs ?

Yup. Some guy from another place was working on a Carrier Command successor without using the name (copyright issues, of course), but had to stop it when he found out someone was developing a commercial CC followup.

Hope they don't screw it up like they do with so many games these days! Right now, I don't hold much hope for that, given it sounds like a crossmating between some war game and Sid's "Alpha Centauri", and it probably requires a brand-new computer running 3.0ghz and 10GB of RAM, along with the newest $400 graphics card. :(

The original Age of Empires. Man, I remember creating a Carthage campaign, the scenario editor had so much to do!
