i guess it's been discussed before. but since the athen2004 is on right now...

in addition to the golden age, there should also be a world-wide sports game and a host civilization can be chosen and that country can enjoy the economic or reputational boost during the game, etc. but the problem is there're too few civilizations in the game.

just make the olympic games a great wonder. you will probably not see them in civ before a modder puts them in or civ 4 is released.
