Onan's Speed-Optimized GMR Game

Well, if it's any consolation, it wasn't an engineer this time. :p

What can I say? Sometimes when you go all out science first, your production tends to suffer. ;)

:D I'm afraid this will not be the last wonder Egypt missed in the last second.

Anyway, Pharoah is ready to fully fund both sides of the research agreement to Russians.
Thanks to the failed wonder:crazyeye:

Ouch, beaten to Pyramids by one turn! Brutal!!! The Roman people will not forget this sad day.

Ha, the people may not have forgotten, but Caesar did!

Tell me when i can surrender.

Did you lose the SC on the same turn too? We Songhai believe in only building religious buildings and will not build these monuments to warriors.

SC are several turns away, so not a big deal. Forbidden Palace is a bit pain to lose

Tell me when i can surrender.

Hey Tab,

I think it's fine if you surrender to AI now. You've pretty much thrown all your units at me to get killed, you've only got the one city, and you're not really actively pursuing any goals that I can see anymore.

Maybe give it a day or so, in case anyone else wants to object or thinks of some reason why you shouldn't....

Otherwise, thanks for playing with us, it's been a really fun game (even for crazy Monty I believe!), and I look forward to the time shift later in the year when you can rejoin us for our live games in G&K. :king: (I'll be expecting at least one ass-whooping as payback.)

Alright Mr. Onan. I will surrender now.

Well played so far. I roleplayed Monty but he eventually paid for all these little mistakes i have done through the game

Good luck to all survivors!

Good Game Tab:)

And peace prevailed throughout the land!

...meanwhile, Egypt takes the lead in military forces...

Great game Tab! It was a pleasure and an education playing with you. Thank you for making amends with the Sino-Russians and for gifting such a quality city to their empire. We'll see that it's managed well for the remainder of our existence!

Thanks for playing with us Tab. Watching you play out the Monty personality was quite amusing. And our game gets whittled down to 5 players... who will prevail I wonder?

What I find interesting is that Rome's been fourth in population for a while now. Yes, fourth. No big cities I guess. No river in cap. :(

And Is, you do have more pop in your home cities than we do, quite a bit more.

The Songhai are a nomadic people who live in huts and tents. We have no concept of large cities and can move at a moment's notice as we did when the Aztecs first terrorized the world.

Our scouts look towards the gleaming citadel that is Thebes and gaze in awe at the empire that houses more than 9 million people. We have barely half that population so send your covetous eyes towards the Egyptians mighty Caesar as they swallow even more of the city states in their clutches.

My eyes are not covetous. When we discussed FP in chat you claimed I had more people than you in my home cities. It ain't so.

OOC: Here's the actual math divested of any attempt to stay in character.

Songhai home cities (ones I settled and count as non occupied for FP purposes):
Tombouctu: 17
Jenne:14
Kukia: 6
Tondibi:7
Total: 44
FP effect: 4.4 fewer unhappy citizens

Gao: 7
Taghaza: 7
Kumbi Saleh: 3
Kathmandu: 5

Total Number of dudes (not population): 66

Roman home cities (ones you actually settled and count as nonoccupied for FP purposes):
Rome: 10
Antium: 10
Cumae: 12
Neapolis: 1
Total: 33
FP effect: 3.3 fewer unhappy citizens

Delhi: 7
Mumbai: 7
Tlatelolco:4
Tenochtitlan:6
Total Number of Dudes: 57

Egypt:

Thebes: 23
Memphis: 13
Heliopolis: 12
Elephantine: 9
Total: 57
FP Effect: 5.7
Warsaw: 5
Ragusa: 4
Grand Total: 66

China (just for grins)
St. Petersburg: 15
Novgorod: 12
FP total: 27
FP effect: 2.7
Texcoco: 7
Total: 34

Russia(for completeness)
Moscow: 9
Rostov: 8
Yekaterinburg: 4
FP Total: 21
FP Effect: 2.1
Teotihuacan (soon): 8
Total: 29

The discussion was over who made the most effective use of the FP at the current time which I still state is Egypt :p The most pop and most science is also currently Egypt mostly due to observatories available in 3 of his 4 cities and none in our home cities on the plains.

Breeding Egyptians has always been paramount important to Pharoah. We sacrificed many opportunities to finish great monuments quicker in favour of continuing growth of cities. Unlike the harsh leaders around the world who put their citizens 24/7 in mines or work by animals in order to rush fabulous palace or chapel for the pleasure of their governors.:mischief:

Sorry E, Rome was on default (food) when we beat you to Angkor Wat. I considered maxing production on the last turn prior, but decided I wasn't that attached to the wonder. :D

Wow that's a lot of work, Is. Thanks, several of those cities are still in the fog for us.

I distinctly remember saying I had a little over 30 pop in my home cities, and you responding something along the lines of us being too great for you or something, implying we had more pop than you.... Anyway, bit of a pointless argument. :)
