Onan's Speed-Optimized GMR Game

I really hope not to be nuked in this particular game. I had good memory of it.

Nuke me to death in other games please.

The Senate will take up this issue at length, and review this treaty in minute detail. Nero, no doubt, will be making an impassioned speech. But fear not (too much), neighbours: Caesar is still in command, for the time being, at least.

We ask that Egypt refer us to the page of these treaty discussions. We've had to cut back on researchers to fund the war effort.

Egyptian historians dig up the dusty documents and found out the starting lines of the discussions: #661 on page 34 and onward.

We know Roman legal experts are the best in the world, and it's up to Caesar's personal will to defeat Nero in this political dilemma.

Thank you, sir. And in case you're waiting around thinking I'm playing my turns now, I've just loaded one up and now I'm going to drop off the kids. ;)

Yeah, I'm not always overdoing it on the micro.

Scandal in the Senate! Vercingetorix, conqueror of Azteca, has sent word: Nero is apparently the bastard son of..............Montezuma! He was fathered, if you can call it that, beneath the walls of Tenochtitlan, when some Roman slave girls strayed too close to Monty's elite guard, and caught his eye. Nero has been hounded out of the Senate, retreating to his new religious settlement, which is named after him.

Meanwhile, Caesar has personally reviewed the treaty documents and found the following:

1. Only the three major powers are bound by this treaty, as neither Russia was a signatory.
2. While nuclear aggression between the major powers is prohibited, nuclear defense is entirely unmentioned.

Weighing up these items, Caesar decrees the following as unalterable laws of Rome: we reserve the right to use nuclear weapons for defense, within our own territory. And in his great wisdom, he has allowed Nero to remain in charge of atomic weapon manufacturing, to satisfy his zealots, and keep his enemies honest.

OUR WORDS ARE BACKED BY NUCLEAR WEAPONS

Pharoah has instructed his men to keep 3 tiles away from Roman border to avoid escalating the dire situation.

Caesar congratulates Pharaoh on his new program, something to do with a Greek god who can roam the stars. Roman armoured units enthusiastically volunteered for defensive duty on Alpha Centauri, but it seems their enthusiasm was misunderstood, and they have been taken even more swiftly to another world.

A peace treaty has been proposed to the Roman from Egypt.

With the last Great Scientist born from the Liberty finisher, all prerequisite techs have been discovered. Estimated Time to Launch: in 5 turns.

Wow, that is really fast, there is no way we can even dent your buffer CS cities before the ship goes up. And aren't we only in 150s in terms of turns? This demonstrates the power of all those observatories, plus your having been left alone all game. You had a great defensive position and terrain and you made the most of it.

Peace...Hmn...that doesn't sound like much fun. Sounds like more fun to nuke you just before you launch anyway. :D

Yes, having been saving GS for the whole game, got 11 GS in total.

Let's save some strength and let this game reach to its finest conclusion, shall we? :p

Wouldn't you launching a spaceship even after being nuked be a fine conclusion? Think of the stories you could tell!

Then you just gave me more reasons to break deals agreed previously. Wouldn't that be a mess in diplomacy for all games across the board?

Entirely up to you. I can't see that it matters if you win anyway.

I'm not sure I understand. To me it's just a bit of fun. What I'm saying is, I don't think we can stop you no matter what. Nuking you just gives me a chance to vent a little frustration in an amusing way, but I don't expect it will change the outcome of the game.

Then again, you might be attached to Thebes staying size 30 or growing bigger, you like your little virtual subjects. :pat: You want them all to have a chance to win the lottery and go to live in space?

If Tab's still reading this...quick speed, space win (vanilla) sub turn 165 is pretty fast, huh? Not to mention MP!

It's indeed pretty good knowing how good human players can crap a condition in no time(i'm looking at you Onan).

Moi?

What's the fastest quick speed space win you know of, say, on immortal or higher?
