I have played a few MP OCC games and it is quite fun.Played on 1x1 though.Deity and raging hoardes of course.Gluttons for punishment.Something different to try out more than anything else.
We learned a few things in the 1st game:
1.We decided premade maps with good identical starting spots was best.Wandering around looking brought in luck which we didn't need any more of.We tryed thinkin of different combinations of specials that would offer fairly equal long term prospects and different short term plans but in the end minor bickering was solved with identical spots.
2.change all hut land to forest or hills. No advanced tribes that way.We were getting advancers early. With no or little gold it takes a few turns to disband and that seemed against the spirit of OCC.
3.Limit traditional OCC wonders to 1 per and no Shake's.We figured Shake's was too strong and we wanted to keep it competive so a SSC would be too strong to counter with just one city.We went for Semi Super Science Cities
Other than that it was wide open.We did play with AIs.2 and 3 humans players with 4 or 5 ais.
Oh ya...we were humming and hawing about the barb settings. We all wanted raging but invariably 1 would get more barb attention and just rake in leader after leader. No real answer was agreed and we stuck with raging.Maybe 1 or 2 settings down might be better.Too bad there wasn't a way to change leader values while maintaining lots of action.$50 leaders at raging would limit things from getting too out of hand.
Very first session of the 1st game was 3 hours and we made it to 1776AD(3 players). That was real nice albeit we were being very "nice" to each other as we ironed things out.
