One more time... The Forbidden Palace.

Where shall we build the Forbidden Palace? (If we War with the Iroquois)

  • Total voters

  • Poll closed .
Oh, nooo... DZ has stooped to quoting himself...

Just kidding DZ. But your arguement about Odawara getting 50% or more of the votes is faulty because the powers that be stopped the war in order to build the FP in Odawara. Why not vote for Odawara when Veii is out of the question. Your arguement has no reasoning. But, oh well. The poll is closed and the side with true reasoning has lost. It's decisions like this that I spoke of in declining my Nomination for President. Now it's time to move on and play the best we can with what we have. You can argue your point further, but I know your motives are just to supress Japanatica's greatness and try to control its destiny. Congrats!

Ok time for someone to quickly recap, where is the FP going to be built, if it is going to be built at all?

I would like to ask how this poll is going to be interpreted. We have 8 people saying to build it in Odawara, but we also have 10 people saying NOT to build it in Odawara. Does this mean we have to poll whether or not to build it there separatly? A majority of the consensus felt that it should not go there (granted, as did a majority feel it should not go in Veii), but these are some tricky terms to deal with. Am I the only one who sees it this way?

Everybody, please read the items in paranthesis by each option. That item (Plurality, Veto Block, veto) is the mandate required for the oprion to take effect.

Odawara has a Plurality, and therefore is the result of this poll. :hammer:

Honorable Cyc, I take challenges to my loyalty of Japanatica very seriously. That is why I decided to take a look at the save myself.

What I have found is that you are absolutely correct. Placing the Forbidden Palace in Odarawa would not provide a significant enough reduction in corruption merit its construction there. However, I still have misgivings about placement in Veii for the reasons I have mentioned before: length of build(Civ3 strategy concern), and uncertainty of a war-torn region(aesthetic concern).

For that reason, I immediately retract my vote for Odawara if I am allowed to do so. Since this poll is closed, this is certain to open up a legal can of worms, but I feel that the rigt thing to do would be to put the FP on the back burner and follow Sir Donald's contingency plan. We can decide FP placement once and for all once the dust setles near Salamanca.

In the future, I will make sure to make myself fully informed of an issue for championing it so vigorously. I say this with much embarrassment, but will work to regain the nation's trust in my upcoming term as Foreign Minister.

Please accept my apologies. :(

If the Forbidden Palace is built in Odawara, I am immediately for a campaign to move the Capital farther North to minimize corruption there.

Moderator Action: Vote removed. DZ - did you want to select another vote?

oy...
so we're deadlocked. who does this go to? and dz, did you HAVE to vote abstain?

also, i would urge those three other people (sd3, blackheart and timbently) to reconsider their votes as well.
people, we have an hour and a half to change things. lets change something! (and keep the fp out of odawara)

can it go there now with a 7-7 tie?

SaaM

My guess is it forces us to implement Sir Donald's fallback plan to switch the Palace to Odawara. We need to delay the building of the FP yet again...it is too close in Odawara, SaaM. Sorry.

Can't someone cast a tiebreaker vote?

On a divisive issue such as this, do we really want to do that? Odawara is too close, and we do not have possession of Veii. We should wait until our war objectives are met to make a decision of this magnitude.

The beginning of this chat should be interesting today.

Chieftess has a double vote as Designated Player

Actually, she does not. The Domestic Minister has that capability, and will be absent today. I say that a tie vote delays the decision until more information can be obtained.

DZ, well, I actually agree with you there. Besides, the war will be short.

Apology accepted DZ, although your apology was not needed. You debated your point of view, I debated mine. That's what this game is about. By reviewing your point of view, you have once again shown me that you are a worthy advisary as well as an honorable colleague.

And THIS is the thanks I get for posting an Early Poll, which Closed 24 Hours Before the Turnchat.

I might as well have made an Executive Order to place the FP in Doomsville as a Compromise site, as it was situated somewhat inbetween Veii and Odawara.

The level of democracy in this thread is about 0. This poll was not needed, but held by an elected official who had no right to do so. Then someone got to change their vote after it closed. Then CT gets to vote twice, because All citizens are created equal, but some citizens are more equal than others. Then SD3 suddenly has the executive power to override three polls.

I am hereby governor, and I declare that the FP will be completed IMMEDIATELY in Odawara or I will resign and leave Edo, the cradle of productivity, in complete anarchy. This is more constitional and democratic than most of the other crap happening in this thread, anyway.

I didn't get the chance to Double Vote! Had I gotten that chance, it would've been for Doomsville. (My real vote I choose not to disclose at this time.)

Chieftess was the one who "Double-voted", and without my knowledge, as I was unable to attend the chat.

1st - A citizen asked to change his vote, altering the outcome.
2nd - There was already a BINDING poll on where to build the FP done months ago. Techincally, this is an illegal poll, since the other was binding with the intent that we take Veii.
