What do you mean you didn't think you saw one, a prompt? I saw it when we started, eons ago, but never entered one.
I said I didn't think I
set one either - for my own civ.
If you didn't set a pw, you can always do that even after the game has started, in a dialog that pops up just after you select your civ at the start of the session. That dialog has two text boxes - one for the pw and one to confirm it. Of course you can't set the pw right this moment, because the game is saved, say, on Vindicator's computer, and you can't modify that file until he loads it up online.
The situation is different if you did set a pw. The dialog that pops up in that case looks different, it only has one text box - for the pw. I understand you didn't set a pw so this isn't a problem for you.
I guess you're worried about the confidentiality of your civ. In this case all I can say is that we're bound by our honor here. As you may have gathered from my post on the other thread, even if you DID set a pw, it wouldn't protect the confidentiality 100% anyway, assuming your adversary is "malicious" and knows the trick I described.
Moreover, there is yet another way to access a civ without knowing the pw,
that I discovered myself after I forgot my own pw for a PBEM game. You need special tools for it, and some know-how, so I'm sure it's employed very rarely, if at all.
Anyway, my take on this is that we are all playing for fun, we don't have a ladder ranking even, and so cheating in the game would be cheating ourselves.
