@I_batman
We didn't ever seriously want the code, we were just joking about it. And I do agree with everybody else that Civ4 is only moddable to the coding-sound, and not everybody is. In that regard, Civ3 is more moddable, and some people use creative ideas to alter some concepts, such as El Justo.
Well, if you look through this thread that started a year ago, it was started with serious intention of talking about getting the code. As for StormRage's opinions on the value of posting on this site, well he has his, I have mine.
But one thing is abundantly clear: One person has posted to the link I provided. I was hoping for a dozen this weekend. Clearly, I am wrong about the demand for the Civ III code. I thought I knew of a few hard-liners who are desperate for it, but it appears I am wrong. Seems most posters are happy with the awful game engine, or don't care, or figure there is no chance of getting the code. I myself put the chance at one in million, but I am so angry with Take2 I will use every avenue to let them know my anger and frustration. It is quite clear that I am in a very small minority, and most accept Take2's decision.
That, and/or most posters can't be bothered to spend the 8 minutes to register to another site and echo my views on the code.
I look at the umpteen hours some have spent on this thread alone....ah, who am I kidding....like I said at the beginning, Civ III is dead. I blame Take2 for 95% and the apathetic Civ III fans 5%.
For those who enjoy the game in its far from perfect state, have fun with it. I will say it again, I am finished with it as soon as I am done my TCW commitments.
And for the moderators, if I ever manage to hack the source code, I will have no compunction about giving instructions to all about accessing the code. Take2 has complete legal domain in this area, but have abrogated any moral responsibility regarding Civ III.
