Citizens and Soldiers,

"How many men does it take to defend France?"

"We don't know its never been done before!"
(Sorry to all you French Folks out there...)

That's exactly what we need to suceed in an up-coming operation, we have limited troops and large objectives, outlined in my plans are,

  • Take Bescanon
  • Raze Two Other French Cities
  • Continue Forward to Cripple the French Internally
  • Possibly Raze Paris

Taking Bescanon
Assaulting the French North

These are quite large objectives but i believe that with quick action we can compltete them quite easily, the Part about taking paris is optional though, THAT is a VERY tall goal, but still possible.

This is how I'd like the war against France to go down, Start off with a quick looksie around France, an investigation, of Bescanon, and Lyons, as well as paris possibly, simply to see how deep they are in terms of men. After that launch the assaults agaisnt France and quickly take Bescannon and move in doubly up north on Lyons and Chartres. Once we've captured Bescanon, we move the Hoplites in and hold the area.

The real fighting should go on in the North, hopefully both of our assaults work up north, and they sustain few casualties. If one of them goes wrong then we'll have their corresponding side halt as well, until the problem is fixed. After the city's are razed we then take a larger risk, seperating oursleves logistically from the Fanatikos Mainland, I feel our column should be large enough to withstand assault though, our Knights can raze and MDI move slowly through the French territory, razing and killingas they go, we stop at the Gates of Paris, snoop around a bit maybe bring in re-inforcements then assault the Capita itself.

IMPORTANT:I do NOT intend for this assault to continue on with at the 26 of October, instead wait for maybe the next TC or even the one after thta, we need to get our men in position and re-fit EVERYTHING before we can attempt such a bold plan as this, we need to be ready, we are not ready yet, it will take this whole TC to place troops and refit them to make them the worlds most technologically advanced soldiers, we NEED that extra edge for the assault.

Comments, Critque?

I would make it a priority, but its quite a ways away fro normal operating range, it all depneds on if we have enough men left over to Raze paris or not...

Am I correct when I see the Treb, Med. Infantry and Hoplites heading over a river to hit that Eastern border city? If so, perhaps place them NE one tile to start, head north and then hit the city? Or maybe even on the road North of the hill, move East one square to enter France territory, and have a hoplite or someone take out the fur colony during the attack. If things go badly, retreat to the mountain and hope the Treb makes it safely by moving it South between the forest and mountain.

For taking Chartres, if we place 4 Knights NE of the current plains so they are NNW of The Augean Stables, then they can assault Chartres in 1 turn vs. the 2 turns needed for MDIs.

Looks like a good plan Ranger, but i have a few suggestions.

1) Maybe you should consider adding a hoplite or 2 onto the MDI stack. This could help protect them from possible French offensives.

2) I think adding a longbowman or 2 could really help the Eastern stack defend Besancon. In case the French try to take Besancon back after we take it, we can use the longbowma(e)n for an extra early attack. Likewise, they could help defend the MDI stack.

I was intending to road (and irrigate) this route into France once the improvements for the Knights Templar were complete. This would improve our movement for the attack. However the Workers are now needed for improvements to Styx. I will request a Worker so that this route can be roaded, but it will obviously be a lower priority than improving Styx.
