orangeNES: Insert Witty Comment Here

Yeah, I'm with Kyro. I understand everyone's trying to hire out, but one post is enough, guys. If someone wants to hire you, they'll probably ask - and right now, I doubt that anyone can afford to hire too much right now.

hmm... I really should write my introduction...

And right now I really don't think anyone has the need for mercenaries anyway.

what about the amurites? the history says they are overstretched and because they are an NPC in the middle i think they will get taken down pretty quick.

i.

Hmmm maybe. I just don't expect people will be at war on the first turn. Surely people would rather build up some strength first?

I have this odd feeling people are going to hunt down characters before each other.

I have this odd feeling the characters will be more adept to hunting down the nations than visa versa

I beieve Orange has specified that

It doesn't mean they won't try.

Depends on the nation. Some of them could raise a very large army immediately in turn 1; others, not so much. It depends on whether you want to be a economic power, or just draft a ton of citizens. Actually, as far as hiring mercs goes, either the Hippus or the Khazad have stuff to offer. The Khazad are, probably, better in a supporting role - the Hippus, on the other hand, have Magnadine. I have no idea what Charles will charge for him, though.

@ Immac: Well, the problem with the Amurites hiring is that they don't have just the best relations with, well, anyone. They aren't going to hire anyone until they absolutely have to.

And good luck trying to hunt down the characters. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it'll be hard, and all they'd really have to do is leave your country... besides, no one except me and them know where they start out.

Speaking of that... Seon and Diamond, we talked about your starting locations by PM (I think), and like an idiot I didn't write them down. Could you either email or PM them to me again? Tyrs, I'm not sure we ever discussed it, so same deal. Sorry, guys... my mistake.

I have sent my PM.

Thanks, you guys. I wrote it down this time.

Also, not really important at the moment, but I've altered the stat format just a little bit. I changed some names to make things more clear, maybe moved around a column or two. This counts to nations and characters both. Again, nothing major, but your turn 1 stats will be a bit different from the turn 0 ones.

Hmmm well Im still not gonna reveal my character's name but I will claim the example post as my own

“Histroy is always filled with the sufferings of people and the greatness of those few that use this suffering to realize their goals.” This has been that thought that my life has been centered around. This is when I would give you a name, but names are merely to tie one down, to make them more real...more tangible. I shed my name and my mortality when I decided to extend my life to better understand this thought...and how to keep it from becoming a fact. Throught history, where by my hand, where there were those that would help keep this thought of mine alive, I have ended them. Humanity must become more than the tools for those that misuse the power that they are gifted and merely see those without as such and I am here to eradicate those people. Throught my existance, I have trained and prepared myself to do this, to be the death delt to those that deserve it and yet are without reach of the normal, mortal man. That is my goal.

So have fun guessing my identity! I thought it was rather nice and good NESing everybody! :goodjob:

Ooh, nice character you have there Sepuku :goodjob:

hmmmm.... I have an idea who your are, this should be really interesting.

Nah... as long as it drops as characters move around, I believe it is totally fine

Because I don't think people understand that you're going to have to build up fast...

The Clan have more than fifteen units built this turn to start. Plus, for every one of those units, they get a free unit of str.2 Goblins - weak, but there are a lot of them. They are, perhaps, an exceptional case but they still prove a point.

The point is, you may not be able to survive if you don't draft. Don't expect to be able to build up your forces slowly through the economy. You may have a neighbor who doesn't want to worry about that, and will instead just draft to his limit and invade. I'm not saying that you can't try to play it slow, but that it's risky.

(Jopa: Don't panic. )

EDIT: While I'm at it, hopefully this will also put the characters into some perspective. Sure, they're random and annoying; but they (probably) can't raise an army to destroy and conquer you. Secure your home base before you worry about hunting down any of the measley ones.

Now, on the flipside - characters! You're not going to let news like this show you up, are you? You want your names to be mentioned with fear - or at least respect. Do something cool, and show that you can be just as influential as any stupid thirty orc units. I bet they're not even all that tough.
