The Orbital Defense Satellite (correct name?) supposedly defends against planet busters. Does this add protection for the city that built it or does it provide a more general defense?

Do the more you have increase the protection you get? Or do the more you have better the odds of destroying enemy faction satellites?

There are 4 types of satellites

Sky Hydroponics Labs (+1 nutrient, up to city size, halved if there is no Areospace Complex), available with Orbital Spaceflight

Nessus Mining Station (+1 mineral, up to city size, halved if there is no Areospace Complex), available with Self-Aware Colonies.

I forgot the name of the energy one (+1 energy, up to city size, halved if there is no Areospace Complex), available with Advanced Spaceflight

Orbital Defense Pod, 50% chance of destroying a PB, but if it fails, then to destroy the PB, you must sacrifice the pod. They also have a 50% chance of destroying another satellite, but if the pod fails, then it is destroyed.

Orbital Power Transmitter, that's what it's called.

So when a Orbital Defence Pod (ODP) fails to intercept a PB, do you get a pop-up window saying "Would you like to sacrifice the satellite to destroy Planet Buster?" or something or is it automatic?

In the game I'm playing now (as Peacekeepers) I can build the Sky Hydroponics Lab, but the other satellites (Mining, Power and Defense) are missing from my queue. What technology am I missing in order to build those others (particularly defense)? Gaians and Morganites already have PBs (or so they brag) and Miriam and Yang are furiously working on their own. I have 2 PBs ready and 2 more in production but would rather not use a MAD defense strategy as I don't feel ready to take on all the other factions at once just yet. So far I've been successful using conventional missiles to bombard those enemy cities that house their PBs but they just start building new ones and I'm starting to run low.

Could someone please explain to me how these work? I have seen absolutely no difference, ever. I would build about 10 of each, and even my biggest cities would have absolutely no change. Am I misreading the description?

It is easier to see the effects on the smallest cities. If you've built 10 of each and the small cities do NOT have Aerospace Complex or you do not have the Cloudbase Academy, then each city will have 5 more nutrients, minerals and energy than can be accounted by adding the amount harvested from the squares being worked (including the base square) and the squares crawled.

That makes so much sense!!! All this time, I saw "+1 Nutrient in ALL BASES, some restrictions apply", and I always imagined all of it would be in the base square.
