Orthanc's Creation Thread

those hight heels are tehre becose rex is capable o fireing a nuke and if they werent there he wouldnt be stable so he could fall down and fire it on the ground blowing him self to ...... :D

almost done the kinda awkwardly-located laser.

Yes Stormrage, this I have noticed about Rex.:shifty: I'm thinking it was intentional on the designer's part, crazy video game people.:shifty:

And yes HunterAnubis, I'm aware of the purpose of the heels. What I actually find impressive is that Rex can walk, or even stand at all without them.

I not sure its been a long time since I played it like 5-6 years and the camera angle wasnt good if I only had my PS 2 in working condition I would look on the 3D model with whith you can turn around spin do anything you like

Oh and REX is not a fast walker kidna slow motion hes like one legger man against pro runner in a race for 1500 m so you can imagine his so called fast walk lol

I don`t remember the part where Snake takes the sword, and I`m not sure there was so much Matrix stuff going on with GreyFox, but anyway, yeah, REX has no heels at that time...

Orthanc- scrap the laser strap-on if you can`t make anything with it that doesn`t look outrageous or hillarious ;)

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes 001
searh that on youtube and change number on the part you wish to see its realy a remake!!!! some new in vids and better quality Im on part 4 from xxx parts
no game play just vids and comunications I want to recal the story

Nah the laser's gotta stay. I watched those movies before (plus I remember from when I fought it myself), they'll sure be handy in figuring out the animations. Anyways, in both the old Metal Gear Solid, and the remake for Gamecube, Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, the laser cuts off GreyFox's arm which, understandably, seals his fate. I think other fans might be peeved with it's absence in the attack animations.

The sword was added in for the remake, as was the 'bullet-time' stuff, you can find the original version of the battle on youtube to compare directly.

I remember finding a site once with loads of technical details on all the Metal Gears (up to Ray and Arsenal, MGS3 wasn't out yet). Wish I could find it again.

Ive seen whole story and I can say that the remake is more blody then original and more matrix like
I hate that tho coz snake is more like an acrobat now on the other side story has been improved

So hows it comming I its been few days and I cant wait to get my hands on Rex.

by the way how do I upload my own avatar?:mischief:

Yeah I just moved so twas a little pre-occupied, but everything's back up and running again. I'm working on the jaw, just the back, the Rail gun and Radome after that!

For your avatar, look at the top left of the website for a link that says "My Account". Then look for "Edit Avatar", at the bottom of that are options for uploading an avatar off the web or right off your computer.

you might laugh but I didnt find it I might need a screenshot to find it or better glases lol.

IM realy looking forward to seeing it in action coz I cant stop using Ray. So I gess it will be the same thing with Rex but I dont know where to place him in tech tree. its kidna hard when its already full of units

Heels or no heels?
Metal_Gear_Solid_-_Metal_Gear_REX.jpg

I ges hes using them only when standing styll or when fireing nuke but I have no idea how nuke lounch looks like. So i sugest using him as transport for 5 nukes as was said in one of the vids

Well I've also got Metal Gear Arsenal in the to-do list (the least Metal-Gear-ish Metal Gear of them all).

Yeah they never showed what the nuke launch looks like. But what we do know is that it's fired from the rail gun, and in Metal Gear Solid 2 we see EXTENSIVE (uber) rail gun usage, MUCH smaller scale, and minus the nuclear rounds, but same concept.

From all the movies of this thing in action, it only had the heels down at the very start. It pulled them up and they stayed retracted (even when just standing around) for the entire battle. So my plan is, keep the heels up for every animation except they go down in the Fortify, staying down for Attack A, which will be the rail gun firing, and maybe they'll drop during the death as well.

And no, wikipedia isn't the site I was looking for, though I have been using it. The site I'm thinking of still had much more information for each Metal Gear.

Snake has to go one on one against these things in these games? Poor guy!

actualy snake is not the poor guy as far as I know raiden went against most of metal gears ( more then 10 on top of arsenal gear) so I gess raiden is the poor guyon the other side Snake (and big boss - they look same to me) went up against varius metal gears.
I dont know how it is in new mgs but I think I saw raiden in trailer
I bet tehyer having metal gear nightmares :crazyeye: :crazyeye: :crazyeye:

if this isnt the site Ill look for other one once Ill have a free min or 2

sugestion: since he can fire nuke I would use that as bombardment but as was said he has a long range with that thing 50 * 50 squares?
Or the nuke ability should be disabled and replaced with nuke carier ability making transport out of rex and removing nukes move command :mischief: :nuke:
PS: anyone uses ICBMS? I removed them from my game becose of theyer annoing ability to strike anywhere on the map

What I suggest is just make Rex a nuke carrier like a Nuclear Sub. The advantage is he can reach in-land targets over any terrain. Keep tactical nukes the same, bombard range 6 (unless your map is truly enourmous and you want to scale that up appropriately), that way you'll actually have the need to load them into Rex and have him carry them over. And while you're at it, best give Rex, and the Nukes he carries, Hidden Nationality.

Gee, I should know this, does SDI shoot down tactical nukes too? If it does, that sucks, makes Tactical nukes useless except that they cost $200 less, which is really only $60 less when you put in the Nuclear Sub (which can always encounter the good old 'getting sunk with nuke aboard' syndrome). If it doesn't, that's perfect for representing Rex's rail gun beauty, ie:

SDI: Is that a CHALLENGE!!!?

Rex: Yeah, try finding, tracking, and shooting down a warhead, travelling somewhere between half and close-to the speed of light, with no exhaust, fired from any random location on Earth.

ICBM's might seem cheap that they can hit anywhere in the world, but that's the point of building them, and that's what they can really do. That's what the Cold War was all about of course, both sides could use this 'cheap stuff', making it not so cheap. Then in MGS Rex came along, now you can't tell who's firing, so you won't know who to shoot back!

Anywho, got the back of Rex done, working on the Radome, then that uber rail gun, and then it's animation time!
