Orthanc's Creation Thread

I gess its time to change goverment to despotism :D

PS : you should add this sound when Rex goes bom: Its not over yet Snake!!!!

Find the ENTIRE sound file collection for Metal Gear Solid, (and MGS2 while your at it) and I could. Unfortunately, I've looked for such a collection for hours, and having that as the death sound would really limit the useability of this unit.

Edit: Hrmm, Fortify animation is done, but I'm finding that railgun going off-frame when facing north. So he's smaller than the previous animation preview, let me know how the size and animation is looking (this is just the fortify):

PS: If anyone DOES find those sounds, tell me!

Why is he raising heels and walking backwards? I thought he was suposed to stand and put down those heels

Ill try to look for them but I cant promise anything

oh and theres a way to get the sounds but its complicated. record it in game with some program but in tahta case tehre would be few background sounds

http://www.tucows.com/start_dl/204173_82227_165/dlp/ maybe I cant check its ziped in sit file I cant open that and Im to lazy to look for program to do so

No, the heels are down when it isn't doing anything. In combat, and running, the heels were up. I don't think it really can run at all with them down. He walks backwards because when he 'stands up' his feet stay planted, so the body moves forward alot, and is thus off-center. Especially for the rail gun attack, I need as much frame space in front of him as I can get to show off the attacks, so he walks backwards to re-center himself in the frame.

Now I did have both MGS and MGS2, but that was before my brother took the PS2 to college, then sold it for an XBox. Anyways, I've tried getting sounds for a different game out of a recording before, the background sounds are always far too intrusive. And, the program for opening that file you sent costs money, LOTS (gee, can't everyone just use WinZIP like normal society?:crazyeye: )... Keep hunting!

maybe you should try mininova you can find many things that cost money for free but you have to spent some time downloading....I love torents :D

Ill keep hunting for now.
Question : what kind of attacks can arsenal do anyway? I relized that I havent seen it attack anything....

Well it's a ginormous sub, so it'll have torpedoes, as well as missiles it'll launch from its top. That's about it, the rest of Arsenal's, arsenal, was stuff it had stored in it, the army of commandos, mass produced Rays, and a nuke or two.

nuke or 2? I think there is more then one or 2 after all its not a small sub.
Its gona look strange seeing cruiser big as arsenal. oh well nothings perfect. after all ray is bit bigger then a solider in civilization.

And foot soldiers are as big as cities! Taller than battleships! Able to leap over skyscrapers in a single bound! It's Super Civilization Man!:crazyeye:

The amount of nukes it can carry is your choice when you add it in the editor, as I've never included stats with my units. That part of the unit making process has little to do with the animations.

I think you should add some stats just for orientation coz my friend done this with Ray
att 50
def 50
mov 3
aa 8 (anti air)

hp bonus 10
cost 700

You better not know what kind of stats he gave to prometheus and x304

I plan to use arsenal as masive invisible transport but slower then ships on the other hand

Well I'm working on the rail gun attack (might need to break into aaglo's yard afterwards to get those sweet machine-gun effects off of his battle barge's for Attack B:mischief: ), in the meanwhile I though I should put up the run, since it is really the trickiest of all animations:

A little off topic, last night I finished a game of Civ, a game I've been playing since before this thread was created. I won it via conquest, because I had 7500+ Units or so. Because I stopped the tech tree after steam power, Diplomacy and Space Race victories were out, and I disabled Cultural. But Domination proved impossible too, because I had so many units I couldn't build anymore, and so couldn't make settlers to take the last 2% of the planet I needed for Domination victory.

Total playing time: 284 hours, 17 minutes, 1 second.

I've been wondering, did I just set a record?:crazyeye:

Yeah sure! All these are taken from right before I attack the last city. As you might guess, my Civ color is Green:mischief: :

Here's the last city left, some middle-o-nowhere Chinese town. 3 Chinese Riflemen, against 3 Cavalry Armies and 44 Cavalry:

Here's my capital, I was playing as Canada. The name Ottawa is buried somewhere under those "Gaurdian Armies" (which never saw any action:D ). You can also see my Titanic, standing in as an Oceanliner, and aaglo's Ghost Ship, standing in as, Ghost Ships:

That unit total, doesn't include captured units does it? I certainly had WAY more than 32 (7500(suspected unit cap)-7461(My Units)-7(China's Units)=32) captured units, so the grand unit cap must be over 7500. 7750 or 8000 I'd accept:

Tech tree stops at Sanitation so I can have 12+ cities, Electricity so I can irrigate anywhere, Industrialization so I can have Factories:

Just before I finished 'em off. China had the 2nd highest score and not just because they were last to go. They took a lot of land themselves (from other civs), but they were no Spartan's, 400+ units don't stand well against 8000:

This is one of my 'Galleon Piles'. These guys were too far away to get to the last war. There's over 200 Cavalry stored on this one spot, which when including the Galleons, holding 4 units each, equals so many units that the game didn't allow me to scroll to the bottom of the list...:

That's the Averof in-game. The unit it's standing in for is called Iron Frigate, I've changed the graphics for it about 4 times over the last 4 years. Most powerful unit in this game, came with Steam Power, if I were to start fresh ( ) I would leave them out and stick with just sailing vessels, they were too powerful for my sails to be any good against. Anyways, here you can see, I've made a wall of them. The ocean to the right on the map, the one surrounded by my continents, is completely sealed off with similar walls made by my navy. It even covers the two continents at the south west:

And a bit of Geography Lesson of where was who:

You'll notice that India, Germany, Rome, Japan and China are mostly void of cities. That's because I got too lazy to want to bother defending and managing them, so I used the good ol' 'Clear Cut' strategy:devil:. I was trying to resettle Germany for a domination win, but el Unit Cappo el stoppo, that-o.

why didnt you conquer whole world? I never leave a spot I always conquer whole map
Walk doesnt look bad good job

Well as I mentioned above, didn't want to bother managing that many more cities (I've never tried counting how many cities I have as it is). Plus, my standard garrison for each city (in this game) was 5 Riflemen, 1 Cavalry and 1 Cannon. The computer used this setup often as well, it was a little concerning how easy it was sometimes to get through those garrisons.

To conquer instead of destroy all those cities, I would've had to either put less men in each city (making them more vulnerable) or use my offensive forces to guard the cities (greatly slowing down my victory). Remember, I was at the Unit Cap even without taking and defending all those cities. Also, keep in mind this map is set at 300x300, where the regular Giga maps are just 160x160. Given the map size and unit cap, I think it would be simply impossible to adequately defend all my cities.

With 'clear cutting', you save offensive and defensive unit power, make it impossible for the enemy to recover their factories (which won't be really useful to you until the resistance ends), the loss of enemy territory often lets you get in range of more cities. Raising big cities gives you a ton of workers to fix the land up, disband for sheilds in your own cities, or make quick colonies for resources you free from enemy land. Plus, if an enemy takes a city, they get a tiny percentage of your treasury, which in my case, making about 12000 per turn (that's right folks!) means ALOT of gold goes to the enemy. My strategy was to take just one shoreside city, so I can land troops quicker and also heal faster. Then clear cut the rest of the continent, and if I can, use that initial city to rebuild with my own people after the enemy is extinct.
