OSG7a Always War Hard -- Once more, with feeling!

This will be a quickie report

2420:
*Reserves to Phyco to help with the shield.
*Xudax set to terraform in 2 turns; it's at half pop for its terraformed value.
*Decide against invading the lizards. They have quite the fleet headed for Phantos, and it's not a good gamble IMO. I'd rather concentrate on taking and holding Endoria.
*Increase base spending at Vox to max. The Darlok's have a lot of those speed-2 Hyper X boats moving to Quayal, and as we have no ships defending the planet, I think it's justified.
*Tech spending looks good, leave it alone.

IBT:
*Try to scout the Human world of Yarrow; they have a speed 3 medium there. Fast little bugger.
*1 Knight and 1 lancer appear at Endoria; they retreat.

2421:
*Good thing I increased spending at Vox! Darlok fleet incoming in 2 turns. With reserves, shield will be completed next turn. Phyco's should compete next turn without pumping.
*30 (max) troops scheduled from Xudax to Endoria

IBT:
*Endoria manages to put up a base just as those 44 lancers arrive, making a total of 50. Fortunately, they mainly target the NPG's, and we destroy the entire force losing only 30 some NPG's.

2422:
*As predicted, Phyco and Vox complete their shields. Vox is now completely protected from the current Darlok designs.
*Rhilus finishes terraforming.

IBT:
*Darloks arrive at Vox. Trade one of our scouts for all 4 Hyper-X boats of theirs plus a medium gatling.
*Klackons arrive at Phyco. Kill both Horeseman, 3 of the Knights, and 4 of the Lancers without losing a ship.
*Battle suits come in :ar15: That negates the need to send troops from Phyco, as ours now have an advantage. Choices are Zortium or IIT6. Tough call, as we haven't upgraded industrial in awhile. In the end, though, I decide Zortium would be more useful.
*Scout arives at Neptunus, the Red near that nebula NW of Kholdan. Size 28 Toxic Rich, also can't see the planetary info screen. WTH?

osg7a_neptunus.jpg

2423:
*Ack! I pulled a Zed and forgot to keep my scanner in Darlok space :smoke: Oh well, they've got another fleet incoming at Vox, so we'll inflict some damage that way. I can build another base by the time they arrive, so I do so to increase their losses.
*Jinga set to terraform in 2 turns.
*Plant a spy in the Darlok empire
*Neutron Blasters get 10% from construction to hurry them along.

osg7a_2423_darlok.jpg

IBT: Nothing of interest

2424:
*Fierias back up and running. I think we have enough ships for now, esp. with ship maintenance at 8.8%. I'll let the next leader decide how/where he wants to press the attack. Fierias set to research, with some clicks to reserve to rebuild it.
*Bugs aren't going to be attacking Phyco again any time soon, so I send the Hyper X's there to Endoria to help with the fleet that's retreating to there.
*Vox set to build 1 more base, max factories, and provide some research.

IBT:
*Darlok's attack Vox, this time I trade all 3 remaining scout 1's for 11/13 of their missile boats. They have a new large with gatlings and heavy lasers.
*Election: Humans vs Darloks.

Humans: 9 to themselves
Darloks: 6 to themselves
Klackons: 3 to Humans
Sakkras: 4 to Darloks
Alkari: 2 to Darloks
Us: 5, abstain as per rules.

2425:
*Vox maxed, set to research.
*Jinga finishes terraforming.

IBT: Nada

2426:
*Darloks have another new large at Vox. Scanner dispatched to investigate.

IBT:
*Battle at Endoria. They bring 6 Knights, 47 lancers. They lose it all, but due to a mishandling on my part we lose 5 missile boats. Also lost some NPG fighters.
*Mark IV comes in. I take RC IV over Mark V. Hmm, maybe should have taken IIT6? Thoughts?
*Incedius founded.
*Invasion Endoria: we lost 42 killing their 45 (bad break). Pillage controlled Dead and Scatter Packs :hammer:
*Alkari (finally) declare war

2427:
*Well, those new Darlok Cobra's are heading for Vox. Don't know why, but I have a bad premonition, esp since they know spores. Vox set to build some more bases.
*Endoria set to shield, pumped with reserve.
*7 sent from Jinga to Incedius. The core worlds are just too far away.

IBT: Nothing of interest

2428:

IBT:
*Those Darlok Cobra's have 5-shot Hyper X racks, Class IV shields (!), speed 2, 150 HP. Trade a scout for 1 of them.
*Sakkras spies destroy 5 factories at Rhilus.

2429:
*Endoria builds shields, 2 bases next turn.
*Vox set back to research.
*Phyco will max next turn.

IBT: Nada

2430:
*As I'm in a hurry, I do nothing :p

The Save File

Ok, I will wait a bit in case Manic is still about. I am doing something else, but it could wait. I just figured that if we could get in the others, it would be better than going 3 handed.

Looks pretty good dathon!

I think I would have gone for IIT8 before Zortium, perhaps. But maybe we can acquire some IIT from a neighbor before RC IV comes in. We expect to mostly capture our initial factories from this point on anyways, so it's probably fine the way you did it.

Yeah, I agree about going after the Darloks. We probably could take Kholdan if we worked at it using the decoy trick, but I don't really think we'd get much out of the deal at this point. Let's take the Darloks down a peg! :hammer:

Vmxa, if you go ahead, then Maniac can go after you, and we can probably get through the roster twice (up 'till dathon's next turn) before Maniac has to leave on the 26th. Or if Maniac grabs it first, that's ok too.

I'll play after vmxa if he posts a turn soonish. I definately can't play tomorrow, might be able to squeeze in a turn christmass night, then I'll be gone for a while.

2430:
Send a few scouts about from the back lines. Send fleet from Endoria to Quayal. Cannnot send any troops as we have not scanned it.

2431: zip

2432:
Steal Comps from Alkari, get ECM I
Klacs show up at Endoria with 33 Lancers and 2 Paladins. We have 1 Hyper, killed them all, no loss.
Cut back on MB spending on Endoria.
BC to Junga and 10 pop from Xudax.
10 pop to Incedius from Dunatis.
Three techs are in the percent range.

2433: send BC to Jinga

2434:
Neutron Blaster comes in, pick Ion Rifle.
BC to Jinga and Incedius.

2435:
Range 7 comes in and only get ta da, you guess it Range 8. These slow ships are killing things.
Jinga is starting its shields.
Sorry I did not know what the ship count was, but we lost a few fighters and that is it.

I guess I may draw some fire here, but I start bombing Quayle. It is an UP terran. I think it is too much to try to stand up right now and would rather dust it completely and go for Tau Cyngi.

2436:
All factories are gone, but Quayle still has 106 pop, so I send the fleet on to Tau. If we cannot take it, will go back to Quayle or something else. With 2 speed engines it is goning to be a nightmare to get enough troops to Quayle.

Terraform +30 comes in and we have Spores, +30, Radiated (11380), Atmoshereic (16940).
I tossed this around as Radiated means we can land anywhere, but Atmos means we can fix all hostiles and Dunatis will be back online. I further figure that Radiated is already known and can be captured or stolen, so Atmos is my pick.

Add 1 MB to Vox in that I am not sure what the fleet coming has in its bag. 1 Viper, 29 Death Wyn, 2 colony, 2 cobras. Would like a new ship here, but no engine makes it less attractive.

2437:
1 Viper retreated, rest toasted. Stop the MB on Vox.

2438:
Tau we arrive with 175 Ion, 64 NPG, 37 Hyper. They have 5 bases, pop 99 Ind 188 (Ocean).
They have 3 Cobra, 3 Wyn, 1 colony, 7 scorpions.

Kill all except the Scorpions retreated. Busted the bases losing 1 NPG, 1 Hyper and 35 Ion.

I got to say here we may as well scrap those NPG, they are not worth a thing. Could not even get in the fight.

I have 3 Hypers from elsewhere coming to Tau and 5 Ion. Still making 1 or 2 on Endoria to send as replacements. Now all I got to do is find some pop to get to Tau.

Yeah I know all you guys would want your troops to be timed, but needing so many at 1 speed, I can't wait.

Phyco 15 (8 turns
Endoria 20 (7T
Fierias 25 (14T also start 9 Ion to Vox to relocate to Tau.
Vox 15 (5T , yeah I am using an artifacts, but we need some tech now from Tau.
Artemis 15 (11T

Total of 90, should capture the place and we can send more in a few turns after some get a few back. They have only start stuff for troops, IF we get there before they come up with some. We may have Ion Rifles by then.

2439:
2 Paladins, 4 Lancers killed at Endoria, but the 3 bombers ran. I thought they would stick around, so I saved them for last.

2440:
Scan Ryoun (Human) Minimal Rich pop 73
Klacs offer peace and 450BC, not allowed I presume.
Saks mention we are spreading too much to suit them.
We have about 280BC to use on Tau and I am not sure how long before someone takes an interest in Jinga. It is not ready yet. It has no ships and none coming.

Incedius has not had a lot of help, but it is far away and we are slow.

Sorry about the late report, but I had to go out with the boss lady.

I guess I may draw some fire here, but I start bombing Quayle. It is an UP terran. I think it is too much to try to stand up right now and would rather dust it completely and go for Tau Cyngi.
Absolutely no fire coming from this quarter. Coming across an ultrapoor is the right time to start bombing! Trying to stand up factories and shields there would take forever at this stage of the game. Better to turn it into a spud for the AIs to quibble over and work on capturing a real planet! Tau Cygni is next in line, so the natural next choice.

As far as bombing Quayal goes... well as you thought, if we have nothing better to do, it's something to keep our bombers occupied and our relations up (as far as possible) with the Alkari and Sakkra. If we bomb it down to the point where a trivial amount of pop is needed to take it, we might do so just to draw enemy fleets away from our more valuable worlds, but for the moment I think we have better things to do.

Picking Atmos is a good call. We can come back to Radiated next if need be, assuming we can't steal or capture it.

Yeah I know all you guys would want your troops to be timed, but needing so many at 1 speed, I can't wait.
As far as the troops go... I very much doubt we will capture the planet if we don't send more. It's pop 99, you're only sending 90 troops, and they will arrive all spread out, allowing for new pop growth. Not going to fly. We will definitely have to send more from the closer planets, timed to arrive with the troops from some of the further planets. Preferably a lot more, so it can have a decent amount of pop after the troops are done their work, and stand itself up reasonably quickly.

Better way to do it, if you want to do it fast: Send more from the closest planets (timed!) and use the backline planets to help the closest ones fill up again. In this case, send maximum (timed) amounts from Phyco, Endoria, and Vox, and use our backline worlds to help refill the frontline ones.

We have about 280BC to use on Tau and I am not sure how long before someone takes an interest in Jinga. It is not ready yet. It has no ships and none coming. Incedius has not had a lot of help, but it is far away and we are slow.
No-one will take an interest in Jinga until they can land on the planet. So to find out if anyone is likely to go there, check the tech screens for Alkari and Sakkra. If they don't have the right bases, then Jinga's safe. The same goes for Incedius.

I forgot to mention that it may be a good idea to send the fleet or at least the NPG to Quayle to bomb it os it cannot send pop to Tau.

I can't recall what was coming where, so check on the strength they would face.

Oh as to capturing, that will be a easy. Just plan on sending troops on the second wave to match with Fierias troops. It will be the same as if you timed them from the start.

The difference is we will use the second to fill Tau. 15 from Vox should not cause any pop to be sent form anyplace. Then the rest will be close to taking it down. The next bunch will finish it.

If they do manage to send pop in the mean time, it is not a bad thing as we will be hurting them some too.

That is probably why the Alkari have left it alone, but I am not sure if Saks will be able to land or not. They can't be too far from tipping on us.
Anyway in a few turns Jinga will be up, Incedius is another matter, but we do not have a lot invested in it anyway.

Sorry, i got wraped up in a CIV MP game =/. I'll take a turn of Christmass Night.

Zed-F
vmxa (last player
Maniac (up
catwalk (withdrew
dathon (on deck

I think this is the current status.

Yes, except dathon switched ahead of you for this round, so we will have Maniac -> Zed -> vmxa -> Maniac -> Dathon for the next few players.

Plans changed. I'll get a turn in sometime tonite. If we can get back arround by late tomorrow night (doubitful) I can play again.

Fell asleep working on the turns :( looks like one time arround sorry. Must....sleep....
