Have fun with the French, but prepare for the Russians as they are next on the list. I would strengthen the Russian borders and maybe make peace with the Vikings soon. Fighting the Russians and the Vikings maybe difficult. The Vikings are quite weak and a very tempting target, but together with the Russians it may be too much. The Vikings will stay weak and are next after Russia. They can wait. Just my 0.02.
 
I am aware of this. That's why I suggest to strengthen our borders to Russia. France has only 2 or 3 cities left, haven't they ? There should be enough forces to kill them within the next few turns. The war with Russia is near and we should be prepared. The Vikings can wait a little, so maybe it is better to make peace with them soon and save these units for Russia.

Had a look at the save and have to clarify before I begin. The Russians killed the French on the second IBT of madviking's turns, so according to the rules we would have had to declare war with Russia immediately as they are next after France on the list. We are not at war with Russia when I load the save and our borders to Russia are quite weak. According to my understanding of the rules we have to declare war to Russia immediately. Right ?
 
That's the usual NOW rules.

We might consider to simply switch Russia and Vikings as we are already at war with Ragnar.

I can go with both, too, but it changes the game significantly as almost all our forces are in the Viking territory. If I declare war on Russia now we do not have troops to hit her. It even could get very ugly as we have few troops to defend against Russia and they are quite strong now. It will be much easier to switch Vikings and Russia as the Vikings are already dying, but not accoridng to the rules. It would be more challenging to declare war on Russia now of course. Should we wait until own is back ?
 
Decided to play according to the list. If own wants to switch Vikings and Russia we can take madvking's save and play the other way.

Ah, forgot something. Keep an eye on former Paris. Do not let the Russians take that city as it has the Great Wall. Abandon it if it is obvious that we cannot hold it. Russia with the Great Wall wouldn't be good. For the time being they ignored that city and they are sending troops heading to our main land.
Starve down our incense city caughnawaga until there are only our people left and prepare to attack Smolensk to take away the cultural pressure from Caughnawaga.

Get a leader. Rush the Forbidden Palace in Mauch Chunk for faster research and unit production. This will help much more in the long run than an army. And this one will last long.

Serious SNAFU all around. The only chance to win this is a slow advance with much artillery and armies. Russia is much to strong to simply run through the front door.
