I was thinking more Elohim centered instead of the "steps to make the world into hell" strategy

Well....if you get to infernal pact fast enough, you could always tech to order as the infernal and THEN go for a more elohim-style cultural/altar victory.

I seem to vaguely remember that the Infernals auto-purge order from their cities. Might be confusing that with the Mercurians though...

Or perhaps they are simply locked into AV?

Definitely not locked in in RiFE, I got a prompt to convert when I switched civs...I admit I haven't tried switching religions yet, but I did have the option(the calabim spread FoL into Dis when we signed open borders).

edit: spoke too soon...looks like it is locked for the infernal.

You were also right about the auto-perge(I used a great prophet to build the religious wonder in Dis, and it then became the holy city again).
