NOT WORKING AS OF PATCH 1.0.1.135[pissed]

...COMING SOON: NEW ANIMATED BANDITO!

We Don't Need No Stinkin' Badges!

Civilization: Mexican Revolution

Leader: Pancho Villa

Trait: Division of the North (all mounted units gain an extra attack per turn)

Description:
Has a couple civ-specific units (like the Bandito and Dorado), several replacement buildings (Adobe Fort, Military Colony, War Council, etc.), and adds a few unique elements like the Bullfighting Ring (must have access to cattle!) or Great Commander. Also introduces two new Specialists (Advisor and Curator) who have different contributions and can be assigned to special buildings to produce two civ-specific Great Persons.

Contains many new icons, lots of new and researched Civilopedia entries, and I've played it repeatedly to check for problems and balanced gameplay (although I'm sure someone will find something that needs to be tweaked:crazyeye:) Don't have any new animations yet; I'm still learning about that.

By the way, there's a text file included with the mod that contains more details, notes on historical accuracy, and some hints on using the new units and buildings.

Personal note: This was my first mod using XML files (so please be kind :)), and as I kept discovering new things that I could change my project got more and more ambitious (there are still things I want to add), but after a month of working on it I decided I better go ahead and upload it or I would never stop! Especially considering that the project kept getting more involved and complicated and I didn't have any feedback on it yet.

Thanks! Looking forward to your comments and suggestions, and hopefully you'll enjoy it! :hatsoff:
(Also downloadable from the MOD Browser)

ADDENDUM: Designed as only a playable civ.

Well, with versions one and two, I've had over 500 downloads and no feedback. I don't know if that means it's working fine and no one has any complaints...or if it means it sucks and people are just totally indifferent. :dunno:

I wanted to make a scenario with Pancho Villa fighting the Mexican dictatorship--the map would be limited to the Western Hemisphere with three or four civs (U.S. to the north, maybe the Aztecs to the south, and then a new civ, which would be the Dictatorship led by Diaz)--I've also been learning how to change the units so I could put in my own. But I wanted to get some feedback on this mod first and make sure it's working and that people are interested. So far, though, I have no idea what people think or if I should bother trying to do anymore with this.

Be sure: If something sucks, then the people will come and complain.
Don't be concerned ;).

My suggestion: Expand it. If it gets bigger, people will have more ideas about it and are more likely to contribute something.

Well, that's the one and only mod I tried out so far but the TXT_KEY turned me off !

Thanks! That's something I can fix. Could you tell me where you found that? (And which version?) I played each version before I uploaded it and didn't see anything like that, but I might have been overloaded with playing it so many times and apparently missed it. I even downloaded it for more quality control, so I'm surprised to hear that, but it would certainly turn me off too.

I just went and took a look and didn't see this problem. It's possible that this was occurring in the first version and got fixed in version two. But like I said, let me know where you saw it and I'll make sure it's working correctly.:)

I just have v1 !

Version 2 can be downloaded in a .rar file from here, but I'm sure it's easier just to download from the modbrowser. I downloaded version 2 and played that file just to double check, and it looks like it's working fine (no TXT_KEY stuff). If you're still interested in checking it out, it's up under the "Civilizations, Historical" category like the first one, and same name (but version 2). Let me know how it goes. Sorry for the problems with version 1, and thanks again for letting me know.
