Paradox Interactive games

 That seems like a pretty sure answer! How much does it improve the game exactly? Am I still going to be able to achieve world dominance as the UK, for example?

It basically makes the game much more historical. So perhaps UK world dominance, as tempting as it sounds, I know, is out of the question.

I'd like a mod that fixes stuff and improves the game but still let's me take over the world as any nation.

Magna Mundi is pissing me off because it won't let me choose Quest for the New World (except for a few nations) until the 1600s!

Hmmm....I can't decide whether to get it or not.
Perhaps I could try it, there seems to be fairly good instructions on the paradox forums for deleting it if I don't like it. To be fair Victoria does seem like it wll get a bit boring after awhile as it is. Maybe i'll just play i for ahilwe and if I get bored d/l the mod!

I went and upgraded to Revolutions last night. I'm thinking that I should do an AAR to allow everyone to laugh at my noobiness, and if I somehow manage to survive until 1936, then transfer it over to Doomsday and go for a WC. :yeah:

sounds good to me- I got Revolutions a while ago and I haven't looked back since (though that might be because I'm terrified that if I change my mind, it'll disappear off my harddrive and I'll have to pay to download it again)

Does anyone else think that Crusader Kings has the potential to be one of the greatest games of all time if done properly? I think it's just too complex.

has anybody played the Magna Mundi Gold mod together with Napoleon's Ambition?

I haven't really gotten the knack of it yet, I started a game as the Ottomans and constantly lost provinces to the rebel scum due to the Treason event :hmm:

and the bloody fort of the Knights seems to be impregnable?

I've read the few most recent AAR threads in this forum, and have become intrigued. My understanding is that there are two main games, Hearts of Iron, and Europa Universalis. They both look very similar, what is the difference between them? If I was interested in trying my hand at one of these, games, is there a bundle that has the main game + expansions, or would I need to buy each of them separately? And what is Victoria? I've seen that mentioned a few times, is it an expansion for one of these games?

Four games:

1066-1430 something: Crusader Kings

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crusader_Kings_(video_game)-

Map of Europe and northern Africa and western Asia. Emphasis on building dynasties.

1419-1820: Europa Universalis 2

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europa_Universalis_II

World map. There is now Europa Universalis 3 and several expansion packs.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europa_Universalis_3

Emphasis on colonisation

1836-1920: Victoria

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria:_An_Empire_Under_the_Sun-

world map. With Victoria:Revolutions expansion pack one basically lenghtens game to 1936.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria:_Revolutions

Emphasis on colonisation and economy.

1936-1965-ish with both expansion packs: Hearts of Iron 2: world map, emphasis on WW2.

You should begin with Europa Universalis or Hearts of Iron, those are easier to understand and get into compared to Victoria and Crusader Kings(those two are great games too, just a bit tougher IMO).

I went ahead and purchased the Hearts of Iron Anthology bundle, and EU3 (I didn't see a bundle for this). Looking forward to them showing up next week :)

Cool:goodjob:

Be warned:they will seem to be very complicated when ou first start! The more you play the more you understand though:)

In regards to EU:3 the expansions are relased via gamersgate, where you download it straight onto your computer. You find details on the paradox site!

Nice to see another convert to the Paradox ranks. If you are intelligent enough to play Civ, you can play EU, HoI or Vicky.

I personally like EU the best. Nothing pleases me more to colonise the entire Americas as Portugul, to create Germany from a tiny princedom or to conquer and convert most of europe in the name of the Ottoman Empire.

Just do the Tutorials - they are perhaps the best ones I have ever seen.

And skim read some history (like wars, religion, empire-building etc)
Also take a ganders at a few historial maps. It will really help.

Hi guys, I bought EUIII last week. The learning curve is steep but I'm enjoying the game.

I bought the collector's edition so I got a manual with it which has been very, very useful.

I love how it covers European history in such depth. Currently playing Castille and enjoying trying to conquer the New World. :)

Are there any decent mods for EUIII about?

Are there any decent mods for Crusader Kings?

Is there a good Crusader Kings - EUII/EUIII converter?

Nice to hear that you enjoy EUIII, Bast. :) I haven't tried EUIII, so I could be wrong, but I think history is better covered in EUII, especially with the AGCEEP mod.

Rossiya: The only mod I know of for EUIII is Magna Mundi. I think it's the most popular one.

Ok, a question for the HoI2 players out there. I fired up a new game as Norway, and managed to keep the Germans at bay. When they attacked SU, Finland joined in. I managed to defeat Finland with a little help from the Russians. However, when I had annexed Finland and got all their large airfields, they were swarmed with aircrafts from the allies. This was a severe drain on my supplies: I had to use all my IC on producing supplies instead of reinforcing and upgrading my armies. Anything I could do about this? Perhaps release Finland as puppets, if that is possible?
