Passive-Agressive Only defence Domination

i'd sign up (experienced emperor player) if you still want to play it as i like the idea :)
I don't like vassals but this seems to be a very interesting variant using them, good way to learn the games mechanics.

We need minimum 4 players to start. It is dificult variant, so expirience players needed. Emperor + by my estimation or we would need to drop dificulty too mach.
 
lol, i just spoted this thread. I think you shouldve just asked the whole group from Acid_v to try this im sure everyone would agree.

I think we should experiment on immortal before we move up to deity with mr. blakes AI. :D

I'll play also. I just picked up warlords recently though so I'd like a few days to tinker with the vassal system. I've read about it, but I have a feeling it's going to be different from experiencing it :lol:

I tried a few games with this concept and the AIs won't surrender.
Example from last game :
Mao was a friendly vassal (10% land and 10% population of the master),
he wanted to be free again, so I declared war.
After he wanted to talk again, no capitulation, even not after losing 2 cities.
 
It depends on many factors, what are his reasons?
It could be:
We are doing fine on our own.
Meaning he has >50% land or population or power.
we afraid of your powerfull enamies
You are in war or worst enamy of some one more powerfull then you.

Check, what reasons?

I think Creative is given, second usefull trat could be:

Imperialistic - I found ot good for this purpouse. Initial settler spamm + we will be in long wars killing a lot of trops. Good heroic city producing L3 units on start will be essential.

Industrial: Wanders is a source of culture, and some wanders are very halpfull for varians.
I would want sistine chapel, which useally not that usefull.

Spiritual: Cheaper templess= more culture, more happiness. We would need to max out population. I found that population is the biggest problem. I still do not undestand how it culculated. In my example game he darn has 40% population and 10% land. I am lost, is there some sort of bug in population calculation?

Expansionist - help with early settler/worker spamm and getting population up.

That about it, I think from poit of view of traits.

In my test games there 2 posible initial situpation:

1) Preferable one. There are one AI near by we can block from expansion or culturally strangle.
2) We are far avay from most AI. In this case Rax is essential with getting upkeep under controll.

So, please. I can use opinions. In my test games I found Catherina (creative/imperialistic) work good enogth.
 
In addition, I must warn you that warrian is mach hurder as it initially look.
It is simple because: First stage we need to be able to culturally stragle one AI, hav emore power then it or anyone one else who consider as enamies. If we drop dificulty level = more easy to do that.

On second stage we need to use it AI very finally so it did not free itself, but help as to get more vassals.
On lover dificulty level AI send less trops out and it seems less agressive all together, even when I give him trops.

I think prince dificulty is most sutable.
 
What dificulkty you suggest? Did you read rules? We are not permitted to take or raise any cities by military means.
In order to get original vassal we need to have double land and population then he. How you propouse we do that on immortal?

I didnt say immortal to begin with, but i'm sure something like this could be done on prince
lol i wouldnt even know how to play prince i guess we'll be going wonder happy right?
 
Catherine and Hatty are the only leaders with a good creative/X combination for this challenge (industrious, aggressive, organized are the others). As much as I love spiritual, imperealist will probably be more useful for the land grab.

Good luck! I think this variant is EASILY possible on Prince, and likely on higher difficulties than that. You might want to concentrate more on flipping cities via culture than trying to force capitulations on the AI, however; at least, that's the path I took when trying something similar in an Always Peace game. It's VERY easy to flip a city if you can kill all but one defender, eliminating the garrison for flip suppression...

I'll be interested to see what you come up with, because I still want to try a Passive-Aggressive Conquest win at some point. :)

I am thinking about moving scout on plain hill and look around befor founding.
 
crummy that we have to choose between corn and clams. I agree on scouting the hill for anything NE - and settling in place if nothing shows up.

So, I settle in place, start scout and mm first to work plain hill.
Research set to bronze working.
we have 3 3 food tie, I was planing to grow city to size 4 and then whipe settler or worker.

First scout pop other scout, 3 scout all together got lots of hats and scout lots of land. Found most civs and meat eveyrone I think.

One of next hats give Mysticism. I change research to buddism. One of next hats give half researched bronse working. Buddism because I want to deny AI religions. Next put research to Agreeculture-Animal hasbentry.

I indetify a blocking city, so start settler and whiped it as soon as could. Warrior is ligtning the way.

I suggest put city on Red Dot, first I was thinking Green, but after some considerations decided on red.
It would block 2 civs to expand outside tundra untill they discover sailing.

So, warrior and settler on the way.

I suggest nest to research Politheism-masonry-Monotheism.

we have all needed worker tech. If we get second religion in second city, it would a lot of cultural pressure and thurd religion in thurd city (plan max).

I did not convert to buddism and I suggest you do not convers to, us we getting religions for culure, not any other effects yet.

I would suggest to do 20 turns or untill decision point when discussion is needed on first turn around.
