yeah thats the thing i dont have a clue about ai research speed on prince, not sure what to prioritize, i mean i would just play it like i play immortal lol.
so do we want to go for oracle?
 
i think oracle is a no-brainer. i don't think we can use it on feudalism though as monarchy is way to expensive. CoL is our best option imo.
 
Sling shot to Feodalism is way to optimistic. We actially probably would have to take monarchy with it.
Remember, we spread out all around and do not have additional source of income.

I had some bad luck in my set... (20 turns)

Wang Kon decides to get greedy and steals Judaism from us - he already has an early religion! I probably should have swapped out of it, but I continued researching it since I was halfway through (and this is epic - we'll suffer research degradation if we're not careful).

On other bad news, Vicky has sailing and her borders have expanded into the FP south of her city. We'll have to go to war if we want to settle a city there to block her. A settler is due in a few turns. Also, it looks like Wang Kon can be cramped pretty easily, but Roosevelt is already starting to do that job.

I would suggest settling the stones to the west instead of the ones right next to Moscow. Monty has put a city in a spot that we can probably flip after the next border expansion.

i would suggest to settle the floodplains-city, fits well into our empire anyhow and we need to get big to get anybody as a vassal.

i planned to grab Rooses settler with the axeman, no luck on this plan?
we should try to block alex and roose is probably a good early war target as he could expand in any direction otherwise. 2 axes should be able to deal with anything as long as he does not get any strategic resources.

Hmm, we wasted a lot of turns in the run for monotheism. I can't see us actually wanting to switch to organized religion because it costs too much as a civic when we are going to be expanding like mad. It seems right to build the oracle, and to try and harrass Roosevelt with axes in the meantime to stop him expanding. Our stone is unfortunately in very inconvenient locations. I am also concerned about maintenance costs. St Pete already costs us a very painful 3.81 out of our economic size of 14, we do not have pottery and cannot afford to settle too aggressively right now.

Novgorod founded at FP site. I looked to see if we could block Alex but he has expanded to the west already.

Our axe that stole the worker beats up 2 warriors in New York and then goes off to pillage Roosevelt's improvements (nice profit to be had here, we are funding our research by pillaging and looting farms and cottages)

Grow Moscow out to size 5, start oracle, switch to Wheel (8t) which we can follow up with writing (16t) then pottery

Roosevelt is an idiot and actually lets us steal a 2nd worker by moving it right next to our axe (!)



Our FP city is placed so its expansion will lock England out.



Begin road construction, since we can chop and whip Oracle to speed it up go for writing immediately after wheel is finished, we can get pottery as next tech, we should build cottages to help pay for our expansion

current overview

- Washington has a lot of FP but I pillaged them all. He will accept peace now but I'd rather stay at war so he can't expand towards us.
- England has a settler but no galley, by the time she decides to expand south we should have sealed
- 3rd axe about to come out in St Pete for defence. Road being constructed between there and Novgorod will help. We could consider trying to chop out stonehenge there after or more conservatively to whip a library
- Once we have CoL and pottery we will be able to expand more and try and seal off Alex borders and put pressure on his city, but the city sites there are infested with jungle. There's a double gem site which might be worth going to iron working quickly for though
- Imperialistic settler bonus is crap, it doesn't work on food that was converted into settler production :(

I ought to explain Novgorod placement. In this spot it has a useful trade route with Moscow because its cultural border touches the coast so we are not in a hurry to build a road between the two. Also it will fight for land tiles with London better and every square counts in this game. The cow can be claimed later by another city to the south.
 
sorry about the monotheism. I was hoping to found Judaism in St. Pete to start culture pushing the two northern cities just by holy city status but the gamble didn't work :( I probably should have switched research midstream in hindsight...

Novogrod second border pop is going to be a while on epic. Isn't it 150/2... 75 turns? 1150 for stonehenge is pushing our luck so I'd go with the library whip.

I've played this variant with the settings I've mentioned earlier.
Made a few mistakes, but won by conquest (domination was at the same moment).
 
Was thinking of trying stonehenge in St Pete not Novgorod. Cheeky, I know. Sometimes it just goes very late. I would have tried for oracle there, except that we can't actually produce axes anywhere else yet.

Speaking of conquest... are we allowed to disband cities that we culture flip in this variant?
 
oh right. I forgot this is prince. The AI is slower at building wonders, and there's no industrious civ out there. Can we send our stolen workers to chop it out?

Why not. I think conquest will be aceeptable winning condition.

Ok, Pre turns. Imperialistic does not work on food, but it does work on whipe, or worker food overflow. a bit of MM and it's fine.

Look and capital has 1 unhappy. Decded that it could make same amount of shield 2 size smalle, change to settler.
Whiped settler next turn and send it together with worker and builded axe south. Send 2 more workers south when they finish connecting road.

Found city oin stone and chop 2 forests and mine hill.

Whiped the rest of shield s in Oracle as soon as it was posible, took Col.
Got stonehenge.
connect (I think) city with the rest of our empire, so everywhere is stone. We should consider building other 2 stone wanders.

Americans sit in cities, kill archer and warrior.

Alex put annoing city, we should get chariots and trim him a bit. He protected with pure axes. Our research plumber, but we will get pottery soon.
May be pillaging Alex is a good decision now? but we need chariots for that.

We should cottage spam and grow Novgorod to finance our empire.
Would it be possible to found a city south of Alex new one to get cultural pressure up from two sides and block his way?
If Alex has axes he also has phalanges and we need a axe/chariot combo to plunder.

All in all things look promising i think. If we can pay for our growth (and CoL will help a lot there) we should be able to get a good time bigger then any AI by the time we get feudalism.
