Patch 1.21 bugs & problems.

Yep I went the whole game with no official palace showup. Until 1700 or so no P showed up in the bottom right corner either, when it did, I got one free click (I should have chose the lawn but I accidentally took the facade) and no more, ever.

In a game where a lot of things were improved, I feel the palace is lacking even when you do get to improve it. I miss the treasure room, etc. from civ 2. I miss civ 2...

First all my ORDERS ICONS switch from bottom to right side. Reloaded, rebooted and the icons were back in place. Still no palace building crew though.
Played another hour, pressed F3, and !@#$%^&*!!!, another crash, kicked me to windows, about to reload to continue but this F3 crash is hitting me every day now.

I noticed this quirk in my first patch 1.16. Any of u guys noticed this? Was wondering if the game developers know about this.

I was under the impression that one was able to choose the free technologoy a scientific civ receives when advancing to a new age. I could have sworn that this was the case pre 1.21. Now, everytime I play a scientific civ, I always get monotheism, nationalism and rocketry.

Can anyone confirm or deny that the free advance is supposed to be a "choice"?

Sometimes after editing a BIC you have to restart the computer or the interface buttons will randomly disappear.
One time the main menu button disappeared just as I was about to click on it, had to wait another turn to exit

I haven't been able to choose the free science tech but I have at least been able to guide my free theory of evolution techs by plotting a course with the advisor (it is always towards electronics so I can build Hoover before anyone).

By the time you get to Hoover all the AI civs should have been reduced to rubble. My empire is busy breeding and my landscape is covered by irrigation rather than mines. Not much use for factories anymore and by the same token Hoover is no longer essential.:egypt:

Speaking of BIC files. I modded one so that ivory could disapear (i.e., poaching), so I saved it as Civ3Mod.bic. Fine, but when I played an existing game (not modded), the Ivory disappeared!!

Well, sorry Ozymandius, I guess I have to look on your works and despair, because I'm usually knee deep in my first major war supported by cavalry or tanks at the time I build hoover... unless I play on cheiftain or warlord...

Why Mr Sultan them's fighting words...."Unless I'm playing at chieftan or warlord..."
I'm now doing just as well at Regent level as at warlord by Using the "Stab em in the back" diplomacy .. attack early, make peace, regroup, attack again.... and again.
Honest Firaxis made me do it. Now I insist you give me one of your new settlements before I attack in force. I just want piece(s of your territory) in my time"

i know this is a bug... it has to be

i tried stealing the chemistry tech and when the "What field do you want us to pursue?"(or something like that) screen popped out i chose "What's the big picture?" option and it took me back to the steal technology window. The Physics tech was highlighted blue (just like 'chemistry' when i stole it) and i stole that too:lol:! I stole 2 techs from that civ and it cost me only 1000+ (wouldn't want the gold to go into his hands anyway). hehehe! if it's not a bug it will just make me feel..."honorable". nyahahaha!:D

Ozymandias: I will give you two workers and silks for peace. Take it or leave it.

murewa: congratulations on stealing technology. I have never had a successful act of espionage. Usually a war starts when I try to plant a spy. Once I did though, and when I payed for a high chance of success to expose and enemy spy, I failed and started a war. I never bother with spies in Civ 3 anymore, and that is a sad shame.

Murewa, that happened to me too - the only time I was able to steal a tech, I got to steal two. I wasn't complaining!

Peace in our time oh Sultan.

I never bother with spies either and have no idea how to catch enemy spies if they have any planted. There should be some relationship with police stations and safety from spying just as in SMAC.

Melinder you live in an area where things suck big time (Unless you happen to own a Quebec advertising company. ) There you don't have to steal the stuff, just make the right donation and watch your investment blossom.

hmm... probly right. I shouldn't be complaining.:D

found another bug!!!
does anyone read this anyway?

military advisor bug

(i've added screen caps to illustrate.)

pic1: Military Advisor Screen with the Zulu on screen.

continued on my next post

continued from Murewa's last post...

pic 2: moved slider to the right just a bit.

pic 3: selected Babylon.

pic 4: Babylon now on screen. notice the display on the "worker's lost" window. fishy huh?

pic 5: move that slider on the "worker's lost" window. This will result in an instant "mouse hang". Mouse clicks do not respond. A few keyboard keys will work though (ESC, F1-F12) but the cursor commands don't work. The only way to recover is to reload executable file Civilization3.exe.
