STACK MOVEMENT is different. All units in a stack must be awake before it works. So if you have 20 calvary fortified before the big attack, you will need to wake all of them one at a time before they will move in a stack.

I personally don't like the change. But otherwise the patch works great in an hour and a half of use ;-)

Bill

Heh. A few people complained about Fortified units going with the stack. I guess they were listened to.

Aargh! The one time it actually bothers me to have a slow connection. I'm 40% done downloading, but it says I got another 45 minutes to wait!

I got it in 54 seconds. Broadband does have it's advantages. :D

Installed the patch. For some reason, the game wants to run the first time with Administrator rights only (XP pro). After running once as Administrator, it runs from a normal account as well.

Large map for me. Saved game I've been playing for the past week.

If I'm in the northern half of the map, I cannot scroll past the equator. It just stops. I can click on the mini-map to the southern half and scroll both up and down without a problem. As soon as I cross the equator, I can no longer scroll to the south.

Perhaps a bug because the patch makes the Large map smaller??

I can work around it, but a pretty big bug nonetheless.

NEW
- The option for "show food and shields on map" is broken. When off, it still shows shields.
- after developing writing, if you have negative income (but have money in the bank) and you say 'yes' to establish embassy and the bank shows that you have enough money, it will not let you choose to establish embassy. Fix: prompt for 'establish embassy' AFTER all gold has been alredy deducted from the bank for that turn

OLD
- 'producing' sort option still broken in domestic advisor screen

STILL WANT
- option to put helicopters on carriers (in the editor)
- option to not be prompted as to what to build next after improvement completion, if the item is already in the build que to be built next (i.e. if item in build que, then no prompt)

GOOD
- nuclear weapons can decimate units (via the editor options)

I posted this message over in comments, but i think it probably should go over here instead. I'm just curious if anyone can add units, resources, wonders, now w/ the new patch????

Quick question to anyone w/ new patch. I just downloaded the patch, and tried to add some new units but hitting rename then cancel "a" no longer works for units or improvements?? Is this a problem with only my editor?? I noticed they added some buttons to add governments nice and easy but not is a pain in the a$$ to add units, resources, improvements. Then again, could just be a problem only i'm having which wouldn't suprise me.

I guess I should have posted my system stats:

Win 2000
Athlon 900, 512 megs of RAM, Geforce 2 MX with 64 megs with 12.41 drivers (never have a problem so I never upgraded)

Never had a single problem with Civ 3 and bought it the first day available and installed every patch. No mods other the Snoopy 2 graphics and mmx irrigation.

Wow, strange. Been playing about 10 minutes now. Soon after my first post, the point at which I couldn't scroll moved to about 3/4 way down the screen. Now all of a sudden I have no problems scrolling at all. Real weird. I hope it stays away.

Actually the 1.17 readme says this is the way it is suppose to work. I was annoyed that I would fortify a few units and then move the rest by using stack movement and all of them went. Figured out that it wasn't working like they intended/stated in a hurry.

I work as a computer technician for a living and Im not going to list the stats of my computer. I can tell you that they changed all the colors wrong and the game crashes more then before now. Beta testers should be fired!!!

For Example Japan is now green??? When looking into editor half the races have the wrong starting colors and the alternitive colors are the right ones....WHO COULD SCREW THAT BETA CHECK UP????????

FIX THE DAM PATCH!!!

But this looks like your problem, not a general one. My buddy with a new XP Pro box downloaded the patch and installed w/o a problem, and no weird color stuff.

Oh, and BTW, I'm as qualified as you. I'm a network admin for a living, and build comps/servers, too.

( I'm not implying that you're stupid. Just reporting as another professional in the field) :smoke:

In the edditor it says that civ-specific player starts have been disabled ?!
Did I do something wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong; that feature is not quite working yet so the controls are disabled.

Mike, how do you add new units with this patch?

Well, you weren't supposed to be able to add new units before... The rename/cancel/'a' method was a bug that's been fixed. Adding new units is not yet supported.
