Patch is out!!!

The patch doesn't take account of what wonders have been built, at least in my game. I could build The Great Wall (which another civ built) or the Hagia Sophia again (though not in the same city).

You are talking about a pre-patch savegame, no?
In this case one has to say that some glitches due to such a massive patch were to be expected.

Is this from an existing save, or a fresh game? If it's from a fresh game, could you please provide a save?

Thanks!

So, what happened to Pacts of Secrecy & Pacts of Co-Operation? I'm glad they've added the new diplomacy options, but I wasn't aware it was a zero-sum game? Also, the rivers still look like total crap :(.

Tried playing with the various Mods removed, & I'm afraid the same problem persists for me-namely that the early game doesn't *feel* very engaging. Just doesn't seem like enough to do. Never had to play a Civ game with Mods just to make it playable-& that doesn't seem to have changed.

Aussie.

Links provide another way to get the tech, right? That doesn't mean pre-req.? So what about beelining?

A link is indeed a req. The thing is, more than 1 link means you can choose the req to fulfill

But from 0 to 1 link, it adds a req

that's what I meant, thanks for clarifying. So the tech tree is not more restricted, it's even more open for beelining, right?

Has there been something changed?
Up to now a link meant that you had to have the predecessor researched.

Edit: Stilgar, I am not sure that Kaltorak didn't mix up things. To the best of my knowledge, the links are AND-requirements, meaning that if techs A and B are linked to tech C, you will have to research both, A AND B before being allowed to research C.

No, it should be less open to beelining. Since to reach a point you may need a tech that comes from another long "line"

I say should because I haven't checked, but it's what the patch was supposed to do reading the notes.

Every one of them? I haven't played in some time, since they announced the patch, but as far as I remember you don't need to meet all requeriments for a tech.

Have a look here:

Radar requires both, Radio AND Flight. Not Radio OR Flight.

I'd love to log on, and tell you how the patch fixed everything, cured my acne, and helped me get new friends....

I really like Civ5, but now I'm mad. See, I was playing Level: King, Map: Small Earth, Civ: Nebucaneezer. Was absolutely shocked by how the AI kept up with me tech wise. Further shocked by seeing an AI colony on my continent (I spawned in N. America), and thought I was struggling toward a Science Victory, when the whole game crashed.

I've *never* *ever* had the game crash on Small Map, Earth. Will try again tomorrow.

As it stands. I still have acne. No Friends. Lots of problems.

The game is better. Let's hope my game crash was an outlier. Will try again in a few days.

Guess I remembered wrong. Maybe it was in civ4 that way.

Lucky you who can go into the game to check. Nerf work ¬¬

Civ4 had OR requirements displayed as small icons in the top-right of the tech iirc. OR requirements are not represented in Civ5, even if you add them (the code still seems to be there), and all links are AND requirements.

Do you think it's at all feasable to build an early settler, and keep building settlers fast enough to avoid taking any SPs before the renaissance? Tradition is decent now, but I'd still rather get policies form the renaissance. Freedom is still really good- a citizen is a decent worker, with freedom and civil society.

You could out of a 3:c5food: start, but it would kill the National College, which in turn kills early Renaissance.

But, I really doubt you can get 120 turn biology, since you need economics now to unlock scientific theory.

At turn 90 I still needed: Machinery, Printing Press, Acoustics, Banking, Navigation, Economics, Scientific Theory, Biology. I was clearing the first tier Renaissance stuff in 7-8 turns, and I had a GS in the bank. I easily could have cleared 4 techs and signed four deals before the Renaissance if I'd had the cash, which I would have had if I had built the Wat instead. That would have cost me the GS, but that's a pretty minimal opportunity cost.

120 should be possible. Martin, did you beeline IW/Steel after Writing?
