Hello everyone,

I am sorry to start a new thread and seem to beat a dead horse over this patch, but I have tried everything and I am at my wits end!

Before the patch I was running all video settings on high utilizing a Nvidia GeForce 550Ti card with DX 10/11. I had no problems and hours upon hours of enjoyment. Since the patch the game freezes and after doing clt, alt & del I get the following message: "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I went on the forum and after reading other threads I tried the following fixes:

Leader screen quality lowered to "medium" then "low" = Still crashes.
Veriftied the integrity of the game cache = Still crashes.
Updated the Nvidia driver from 306.23 to 306.97 = Still crashes.
Changed the Nvidia driver to a beta 310.33 = Still crashes.
Changed the Nvidia driver back to 306.23 = Still crashes.

The game allows me to run a turn or two on previously saved games before it crashes.
The game allows me to start a new game, only to have it crash after several turns.
The intro movie works no matter which driver I use.
I don't have the white lines or checkerboard graphical problems that others have experienced.

I am attaching my dxdiag in the hopes it will shed light on a potential fix. I would appreciate any help you all can give...

Shot in the dark, but what happens if you change graphic resolution to 1600x900?

ok, tried dx9, it errored on loading the saved game. I did not try it on a new game. I then tried changing the resolution to 1600x900 with dx10/11. I lasted two turns before I got the error message...:(

I play in full screen mode. The CPU usage varries. Minimum is around 35%. Maximum is around 76-80%. If I would have to guess, I am thinking the average to be around 55 - 65%.

**quick update** After the fourth or fifth turn, while processing the AI's turns the game crashed. My CPU usage was near 65%, physical memory at 61%.

J,
No .mdmp files under either directory that I can find. Did a search for that extention just in case I missed them. No luck.
I have my config files for the game I can attach if you think that might help?

:wallbash:

I thought a bit, and remembered that somebody else had quite some similar problems and rolled back to an earlier driver, which fixed the problem. Seems it was this thread, and that the Nvidia driver 285.62 did not have these sorts of issues.
Due to the lack of other ideas, I'd suggest that you do the same.

I have the same problem but with ATI. Here's the latest in a string of crash logs.View attachment civilizationv_dx11_341540_crash_2012_11_14T18_18_17C0.7z. Not sure if I zipped it right.

I also want to tell you the steps I took to try and get it working. At every step I verified game cache. I deleted and unsubscribed all of my mods. I deleted local files using steam effectively uninstalling the game then I deleted documents/my games/civ5 folder. Then I reinstalled. Then I tried downloading latest ATI video drivers. At every step I tried to play game and still same problem. This started happening as soon as I downloaded G&K from steam.

I tried rolling back video driver too. Same problem.

I found that I had a old ATI folder that was making it possible for only a partial install of catalyst. I uninstalled all AMD SOFTWARE, deleted the folders, restarted in safe mode, did a driver cleaner, and reinstalled catalyst.

So now G&K works but without any mods. As with others mods keep redownloading. I wait for them to install and then I select which one I want to play, press next, then put in my game options, hit start game and then one of two things happens depending on the mod. Either I get past the loading screen and soon thereafter it crashes, or it crashes as soon as I hit start game. I'll give you guys the latest dxdiag and crash file. Apparently it only works in windowed mode too.
