Patch?

Wheee, good thing I loaded up a Siam game today to check on the craziness of the Wat + Universities (ended up being an era or two ahead on Immortal). Fun while it lasted.

This is a fairly impressive patch for a hotfix. I'm looking forward to the big patch.

The Declare War UI now displays whether the players have created a declaration of friendship or denounced each other. There's also now a turn counter specifying how long the Declaration of Friendship or Denouncement has left.

Really good change. Glad to see this.

Fix a bug that was causing Barbarians to not properly target civilian units.

That's good. I was certain this wasn't an intentional change. I only just caught on, but that would have profoundly changed my play style (even if subconsciously).

Fix the Venetian Great Galleass so that it can no longer both Melee and Range attack.

This is under gameplay instead of balance, so I'm guessing this wasn't intentional? Then again, the Wat/University thing seemed certainly unintentional and that was under balance.

I was highly surprised it wasn't under Exploits myself. Perhaps they figured since you had to have faith bought a University to have the option to faith buy a Public school ...

I'm glad Firaxis fixed all these issues, but I really wish they would stop breaking my multiplayer games and release the patches for Mac and PC at the same time.

It really sucks when you have a mixed gaming group..

I hope Aspyr gets it done soon!

EXPLOIT
Venice can no longer annex cities through the Strategic View.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!

I was having some real fun with this!

It says how many turns are left in denouncements and friendships now (in Diplomacy, Global Politics)

That doesn't tell you turns remaining from what I can recall, it just says you have one. Anyway, they are talking about in the diplomacy menu I believe.

It's kind of amazing that the game's been out for 3-4 years and they're only just now getting around to putting that friendship/denouncement counter in there (even if it were just hover-text).

One of those "this has to be the easiest thing to program and pretty much everyone wants it" things.

I'm still waiting for the fall patch where they'll actually fine tune the AI (and please for the love of god do something about the diplo victory), but hopefully the archeologists tuning will help the AI's late game a bit until then. They were making way too many of those suckers (expensive too!).

Darn, mine is still .18 instead of .70 :( I wanna check out that "Mods Multiplayer" Crawford mentioned!

EDIT: Restarted Steam and it downloaded immediately.

I haven't been able to try it, but why is there not much talk about the new Mods Multiplayer feature, seemingly allowing you to play mods in MP now?

Denouncement counter is bugged: shows always 49 turns left, for all denouncements.

Tactical AI - Pillaging: Update tactical AI to include targeting Citadels and non-resource tiles for pillaging, to prioritize closer targets over farther targets, and to prefer to use damaged units (so they get the healing benefit).
There's also now a turn counter specifying how long the Declaration of Friendship or Denouncement has left.

This is awesome! Took them long enough to include the counter but finally it's here. :)

New pillaging behavior should make defending a lot harder.

Hello,

I wonder why the developers take forever to make patches. This is a tiny patch and, what, it took a month+ for it to be released?

Do you want to know a benchmark patch cadence? Go to AirLand; after the release, there were often patches every other day. Now, you see one, at most, every other week. Small, but steady improvements, done often...

Well, even though I did find the month+ time to fix gamebreaking bugs quite a long while, I do not know how hard it was to track them and deal with them. W:ALB on the other hand didn't have greta bugs, 80% of all constant pacthes are rebalancing ones.
