Patch_213 and Pitboss Games

Is there anyway to continue existing Pitboss games when a participating player has upgraded to the patch. He is getting a version mismatch now when joining. If I upgrade does that allow the game to continue or are we toast?

What needs to happen is for all players to patch to v2.13. This can be done by either upgrading to BTS or patching via the warlords upgrade feature.

make sure u update directX too or or civ4 will not start

Yep, all players' and the pitboss machine itself all need to upgrade to 2.13. The Firaxis website has the standalone patches if the pitboss server can't be patched within the Civ4 program.

Patched. But we have some players who have not been successful in the applies for whatever reason. Right now with the exception of one game I am playing all other piboss games are disrupted. I think its the directx issue. I also updated that prior and had no issues but others haven't and chaos ensues and there is rioting in the streets. Firaxis did a poor job of ensuring people knew about the requirement for the directx update IMHO. I also found out that PBEM games require a blank admin password or they get corrupted when opening 2.08 with 2.13 rendering the game terminal ... not sure if that is true but before the update you are supposed to resave the password as blank using CTL-ALT-D. Since I have no PBEM games for Warlords not sure if this is true but I thought I'd mention it here anyway for someone's benefit.

The very first issue of vanilla CIV4 had the same issue. Firaxis/Take2 never warned its customers that the most recent DirectX was required. That along with non-compatibility with many graphics cards made it a nightmare.

Do these guys just crank out code in a dungeon and have never learned to talk to humans?

oh why why bother talking to the people going to pay them for these games - afterall we will rush madly in and buy it anyway
