since there isn't a thread on this already.. who else besides me lost money betting on the rams? the pats pulled off a huge upset with their last second field goal. the patriots got introduced as a team, instead of indvidually, and they won as a team, playing tough defense and intercepting warner several times

HOORAY PATRIOTS!!!!

Getting introduced as a TEAM rather than as individuals was awesome. How could you not love such a team. :):goodjob: :king:

Even though I wanted the Eagles to go I am happy of New England. Hell, at least they are an East Coast team ;) oh, and the red, white, and blue helps to.

WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Boston is going f'n nuts here!!!!

So, let me see if I got this right. There was a big game of your American football, and someone scored a field goal with about a minute to go (?), to win 20 points to 17 points. I thought they threw the ball and scored tries or touchdowns or whatever more often than they kicked the ball - Was this a rare thing?

Not rare like it only happens every few games but rare like most of the plays (like 80%) involved running or passing the ball under very strict rules with 4 downs to reach 10 yeards. Doesn't seem far but you have to figure in that you really only have 3 downs to run the full ten b/c most teams will not want to turn over the ball so close to their end zone (the scoring area) so they "punt" the ball. Now if the team is close enough to the end zone (about 30 or so yards away) then they can go for a "field goal". That is where the kicker tries to kick the ball between the uprights.
Points:
Running the ball in the end zone = 6
Kicking a Field Goal = 3
After running the ball in the end zone you are allowed to try for either a 1 point or 2 point conversion.
1 point = kicking the ball (very rarely misses)
2 point = running or passing the ball into the end zone one more time (fails often but if you need that one more point then this gives you that chance)
There is also another way of scoring, if the other teams happens to step back into their end zone and they are tackled then you will get what is called a "touch back". I THINK this is worth 2 points....but I can't remember off the top of my head (this is very rare as most teams will punt the ball inorder to not get in this situation).

American Football... how exciting... :o

That was the best superbowl I've seen in some time. Granted I would have preffered to see the Steelers and Eagles face off, but as long as those lousy good for nothing Rams get a stomping, I'm happy.

But I am happy for the Patsies, they deserve the world championship.

They beat a team that was better than them, but that's why they say "On any given Sunday..."

The Rams will be there next year again, though, and they will win it all.

Or at least they better.

This super bowl was great, but I still think the Rams-Titans super bowl was better.

GO RAMS!!!

If the ball-holder on a team is tackled in his own end zone, that is called a SAFETY. It is worth 2 points.

A TOUCHBACK on the otherhand is when, during a kickoff, the ball reaches the end zone and the receiver chooses to catch it and just kneel in his end zone instead of attempting to run it back. The ball is placed at his 20 yard line, and his team will have possesion.

Both of those superbowls were great, I agree. I don't know which one was better but last year's (Giants-Ravens) sure sucked!

Congratulations to Boston, and all Patriot fans.

Best game ending I've seen in many years.

I wanted the Rams to lose anyway, after beating the Packers. :D

I Dont know anything about American football but
WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! :rotfl: :jump:
Patriot's won
i will try to see if Sky have the highlighs to show or i'll find someone at school with it

1969 - New York defeats Baltimore: 19 point underdogs thrash the seemingly invincible Colts.

1989 - San Francisco defeats Cincinnati: Montana's 90+ yard game ending drive.

1991 - New York defeats Buffalo: Norwood's kick sails right.

2000 - St Louis defeats Tennessee: Jones makes perhaps the most famous open field tackle in history.

2002 - New England defeats St Louis: After 9/11, isnt it fitting a team called 'The Patriots' carries the day?

It's to bad that the Rams lost the real way, instead of the above.

Go Rams!

Go Huskers!

Go Celtics!

Go Cardinals!

I think I need to get new teams?!?!
