I am using a pay as you go dongle to get the internet. I have to top up credit ever so often.

What can i do with this site's options.. an firefox's to reduce how much internet I use while browsing the site?

Cheers

Use a extension like NoScript or Adblock Plus to limit the amount of stuff that gets loaded. Or you can get a text-only browser. That would definitely limit the amount of extraneous data you get.

How can I make it so images don't load unless I click on it or something.

Would hiding all the avatars/signatures on this website help?

Stop Autoplay also helps. You can set it to block all flash media.

Hiding signatures wouldn't help much - they're text-only already, so the difference there will be minimal. Hiding avatars will help some - as images, they eat up a lot more bandwidth.

Generally all of the above will help. Blocking ads, which tend to be images, will make a difference, and the extensions Genocidicbunny mentioned have a good reputation for doing that. Flash also eats bandwidth, so making sure you don't have Adobe Flash installed will help there (check Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel, and make sure it isn't there - it will be in the "A" section if it is). A Google search turned up this image blocker extension for Firefox, that, if it works like Opera's as it says it does, will quite effectively block images.

In Firefox - tools->options. Click on content tab. Uncheck "load images automatically". Doing that replaces all images with a link using their alternate text.
This method does all images, including smilies and the buttons on the forum.
