I sure hope not!
I've sent the save to Boc twice now, and have heard nothing back from him. Have you guys heard from him?
If we don't hear anything by Monday, I proposed to find a replacement player.

I've just emailed him - his last signon to the forums was on 11/11, so I don't think a PM would be all that useful.
If any of you know of someone you'd prefer to take his slot, let me know. Otherwise, I will post a "player needed" announcement on Monday. There were a few people who tried to sign up for this game, but didn't post in time. I'll contact them first.

Hi all, I apologise for my recent absence from the game.
My internet connection has been cut off, and I will not be restoring it for the near future. So unfortunately i will be unable to continue the game for the next few months at least
It appears as though a replacement will be needed to take control of the English empire, I believe Peter has the relevant password for my place in the game.
I hope you can all enjoy the remainder of the game.

Thanks for the update, Boc. Yes, I have the password, Yes, I've posted a 'Player Needed' in the replacement players thread. I've also emailed a few guys from the forums that have played in PBEMs in the past.
Boc, if you find yourself in a position to come back, let us know

Peter contacted me about filling in for boc4j, and I've agreed to play for as long as needed. When/if boc4j returns, I'll be happy to turn the reigns of power back over to him.
I understand you're all willing to patch (that'll be necessary for me to play) – so as soon as you're all ready to go, Peter will send me the save, and we'll be under way
You should all feel free to PM me or send me an e-mail ( joshua.v.tucker AT gmail DOT com ) – hopefully I can get into the diplomacy game without too much disruption. If I'm supposed to be your ally – just let me know. Of if I'm in the middle of a double-cross, maybe someone should tell me that too!
(Makes me think of the story about when Truman became president after FDR's death… "excuse me, Mr. Truman? Just wanted to let you know we're about to conduct the first atomic bomb test in a few weeks" Truman: "Atomic what?" )
Anyway – looking forward to playing with all of you!

Welcome aboard General and thanks for taking over. We've been waiting a long time for the Redcoats to arrive!
Update:
I patched last night, but I screwed up and forgot to keep a copy of the original 1.61 folders. So now I can't unlock the saves
Oddly, the DVD doesn't have an installer on it - just the raw folders and files. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to get the 1.61 files back into their proper folders. I've written a post in the Mac forum detailing my mistakes, hopefully I'll get some guidance soon. Sorry for the whoopsie

You wish You can download the 1.61 patch from civfanatics. The problem comes with trying to keep all of the executables separate with the many patches driven from BTS.
I *think* i did the patch thing correctly. The only one I had handy was the one I had finished playing which gets sent on to you (Boc4j).
I clicked on the save to boc.
I entered his password to open the save,
Rhiems finished building a Forge, and I had to build something - I was blocking the screen with my hand, and clicked on the thing at the top of the list. It was a Catapult (no way to keep from spoilering that, so I guess we all should know!)
I hit escape, clicked on Game Options, entered 'pi' (the game admin password), then erased the password from the resulting textbox.
Then I hit ctrl-S, and added "patched" to the filename
Exit to Desktop
Open CivIV1.74
Open Boc4J....patched.save
entered his password again
then as soon as the screen came up, I hit Ctrl-S, and added the word "pathced" to the filename.
According to the patching and unlocking instructions that were posted in the Civ4MTDG forum (specifically Gyathaar's post), this should do it.
It may take General_W a day or three before he plays - I advise Kake and Erik to make sure they can play 1.74 saves during this time.

It was a little jarring to try to step into the middle of a game this far along. It looks likeKake Boc4J plays a bit differently than I do, so it'll take a bit for me to get my feet under me probably.
Looks like we're all friends, except for the vile French, whom I'm apparently ridding the world of! Cheese eating surrender monkeys…

Almost all of us have been at war with the French at one time or another, so you're not very special in that

Again - thanks to all for your patience. If you look at the post count for this thread in the PBEM forum, you'll see that this is one of the longest running pbems. Of course, that could simply mean that none of us are skilled enough to eliminate the others as quickly as the other games did
