PBEM - HOF 'Blitz'

Well, I am not a big fan of culture flipping and in a time of war there would be little opportunity besides revolt. If there are sufficient troops in the city that would not happen but the AI does not really count that beyond those that contribute to happiness. As we are in a war scenario not a culture building one, it does not play well unless there are insufficient troops to keep the peace.

So, I can't say I agree but it is hard to argue with the AI. If it flips, it flips. I suspect it would flip on a replay unless we are not preserving the seed.

Botman must have planted a spy in my capital and used the propaganda option on Pearl Harbour. I don't think the city would have flipped naturally because it's so far away from other American culture.

Well, if there were only a couple troops there and a tactic was used then I guess that is the way it goes - it sucks but unless we are going to outlaw it... But if there were significant standing troops then it should not work in any event and would be disruptive to the balance of power. Air and sea should apply as well.

I can't say I have ever even messed with propaganda and thought it only disrupted production not flipped cities. I do not see how this would apply to the scenario. Tokyo Rose never had any effect. I am sure American psy-ops were every bit as cartoonish.

So, how do we reslove and go forward? Eric_A's scenario right?

OK, I think we're all against flipping, or think it is valid but cheap, so I'll replay.

For the record, I know what TechGuy had in PH, it was a lot. So I would appreciate it if you wouldn't bust my spy for a couple of turns Techguy, or alternatively if you have a spy in the US tell me and we will call it even.

I have some work to do, but I'll play tonight.

Edit: Sorry guys, will have to play tomorrow instead. Did more work than I planned.

GPS

As mentioned before, no attacks by the US.

The brave Chinese launched a counter-attack against Chihkiang, despite their commander's anger that the city's walls had been left intact when it was abandoned.

The Chinese lost 7 Infantry, and killed 2 Infantry Corp, 1 Infantry Division, 1 Marine and 1 Light Tank.

The city remains in Japanese hands however, as the attack faltered against field artillery firing low angles.

Cannons damaged a Japanese Army threatening Sian.

GPS to Russia

- remnants of the Chihkiang garrison bombarded by arty&planes then subsequently destroyed by NI armies. Lost 1 LT.
- Sian captured by 2 NI armies after bombardment from planes.
- Killed 1 guerilla near Sian with NI-div
- road cut near Chungking
- Lost 2 DD to CW trans in Indian Ocean :(

Btw, all my cities have walls because I control the 'Great Wall of China' wonder in Peking. And now barracks because I control 'Sun Tzu's Art of War'.

Ah OK. I never thought they would apply to newly captured cities as well. Are they limited to the same continent?

Bad rolls on the transport. :crazyeye:
