Settlings look fine.

Also I mentioned to Zarquon our great prophet ... that one important thing in a pbem game is to e-mail combatants about the results of conflict. That way the person you attacked knows who attacked, how many were slain and how many opponents were killed (this includes bombard) ... the player may also decide to post these results in a spoiler for lurkers :salute:

Otoh, you are probably right.
One convention has it you can liven this up with some comments.
If there is stuff you don't want to give away, then don't mention it, or use the Jello approach.

I tend to let some stuff slip, as I tend to take the approach that this is a bit artificial anyway, as we are going to be hard put to be really surprised when we meet up at some point on the map.

If there is anything that constitutes diplomacy, when your actual game position does not enable you to do it, then don't.
