PBEM Olympus

You should make it a male obsessed with law and order, so in theory we could have a short-lived alliance before the ultimate blow-up and war!

 I only read this now after having finished my description. Strange minds think alike huh?

Ok again Whoop Whoop Nice!

A pet Tortoise? You could play "Fetch" and get your chores down :)

Ok so Traits, I am going to bend my character around an Imperialistic leader to include the 2 I mentioned above

hahahaha nice. 100% correct!

Loved it, it will work perfectly, the yin to my yang!

For the record, I am not female, nor particularly attractive, dont get your hopes up

I think you have already verified another time that you are an elderly married father living on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. My love-life seems non-existent but I'm not that desperate.

OK, so we have our 4 heroes:
Imp Knoedel
Eclipse
Nighthawk
Ruff

@Ruff, we need your hero story

@Eclipse, you need to finish your story. But please no %'s...

@Nighthawk and Knoedel, thank you for your stories. I will read them carefully again and fill in the story gaps with some proposals

"Grandpa is a funny old man"
"Who? I didn't think you had a grandpa"
"Everyone calls him 'Uncle' but he is really my Grandpa."
"Your grandpa? Wow - I did not know that."
"Anyway - he is a funny old man."
True ... but then again, all grandpa's are funny old men"
"No. My Grandpa is ... stranger than all of the other grandfathers in the camp"
"How old is he now? 40? 50?"
"My ma says that he is much older than that. And(!) she says he looked as old as he does now when she was a very little girl"
"That is just crazy talk ... how can that be?"
"You haven't heard the story? Sit ... and I will tell you a tale so strange it will straighten your pubic hairs"

Once, a long time ago, when we were a nomadic people following the great beasts of the plain, the tribe had occasion to celebrate mid-summers day with a large meal, drinking, song and dance. The meal included those special mushrooms.

Late in the night after the camp fire had died down, the people saw a bright light coming from down near the river crossing. Many didn't want to go near it - many wanted to pack up right then and there and leave. But a young lass who hadn't had too many mushrooms skipped on down to the river to see what was going on. She returned later with a strange man who was wearing skins of very strange animals. He had long hair, a dazed look (probably he had partaken of the mushrooms too) and could only speak in nonsense words.

The tribe, being shamed into it by the young girl, accepted this strange man into the tribe. It is said that he shared many strange stories (he did manage to learn how to talk) with the tribe about a great musical event (Woodstock, he called it), of smoking too much weed (I have no idea what that is) and of laying with many, many women (I know all about that!). He also said his people could travel at a great pace (he never demonstrated how) and talk to each other at a great distance. AND kill each other at a great distance. He said he was ashamed of what his people could do and looked forward to living a much simpler life.

"That story isn't that strange" said the second scout checking if his pubic hairs were still curly.
"That isn't the strange part. People say that my Grandpa is that man!"
"Oyyy"

Observations:
  • Leader is a hippy out of time and place
  • Leader doesn't like progress - his people do
  • Leader likes nature and not destruction
  • Leader isn't a born leader and seeks to lightly govern his people via consensus
  • Tribe has many sons who look forward to a bright future

So we have an anarchist and a hippie. That leaves Eclipse as my only potential ally. I can already see blocs forming before the game even started.

As we are playing without mods would you mind if I got Rome? I don't care about the leader much if we have them unrestricted, although he should probably be Organized to be in line with my characterization.

In retrospect I should have made my character female for a 50/50 gender ratio, but I wanted to be the total opposite of Dionys Biliades. I'll make up for it with my second-in-command later.

lol this is pretty funny, I like it. I have no idea how Luthor is going to work this, he says its unmodded, but my guess is there will be a good amount of work done in the mapmaker...

And Knoedel its better that you are a man, so that our characters can have the ability for a short lived alliance at some point! In fact I'd say the same with all the other players! She only turned into a female once I realized she had to have a way to infiltrate an organization and destroy it from the inside without actually being in charge!

Me neither!!!

I wish I could MOD it but:
1 - I do not know how to MOD (apart from small changes)
2 - It would take a loooong time

So... I hope your expectations aren't too big. My idea is more about having a different chaotic start, with some extreme units and strange starting situations (with some very positive elements combined with very poor ones).

I suddenly feel I may be "over my head"... but I will try my best. My main concern is to make a balanced and extreme start (which is difficult per se).

I think we'll manage just fine, there are all kinds of modders here at CFC that love to help players like us.

As for my character he prefers to go into battle after the primary support units are finished. He loves to watch the destruction and then make offers to surrender before actually marching the Infantry in. He has 5 Bastard sons all with different views on battle, none of which are shared with their father. The oldest just now ready for Great General Status, the other 4 hopefully will earn their places soon as well

Personally I dont even care if its a bit unbalanced... but extreme and chaotic are right up my alley! Well... Dionys's alley!

I agree.

Something you just don't get normally

Hey how about an Island full of Barbarians and each of is have just 1 galley, how many of our units would survive until next turn? Or even try for the experience (just a crazy example)

It might be a little late now, but wouldn´t it have been easier to use the Fall from Heaven mod for this game if we are having a fantasy setting?

Also I don´t see how you could make Gaius Palatius a rich sailor, he left his coastal hometown as soon as possible to head inland and per his own law and order stance he doesn´t really have that much money personally per se since he pays whatever he doesn´t need into the imperial treasury.

If you did use FFH I wouldn't need to make my game and I'd share my notes Ideas :scan:

I do not mind using FFH for this game... but I want to play in your game!!! (as here I do not really play)

Gaius lived with in a port town until he was 16 so I'd suspect he could know a thing or two about sailing. But I'll review that.

Well he does know some things, but he tries to avoid the sea if possible due to its relation with his loathed father.

OK here are some notes/thoughts

@Luther
It would seem you are a Dungeon Master (DM) here which would mean you would gift units/gold/techs/resources/etc. to whom you deemed appropriate, thus you must already have these or be technologically capable of producing it. In the case of gifting units they must travel which could unfortunately reveal someone location.

I maybe wrong but in this case you may need to review each of the 4 players turn (using admin password) to stay out of sight.

I think our Hero units should be a Great Person/Spy/Corporate Exec named appropriately and should be used, not hidden away in a city
