How tf do install mods in general, but also specifically for civ 7 without steam workshop. Ive been trying to copy and paste these alleged firaxis folder prompt to no avail. all i have is a civ 7 section for saves. i keep trying to extract mod files to different places with no avail. what fking witchcraft are yall doing.

You need to go to view/show/hiddenfiles in windows explorer and enable it so you can see all files. then extract the mods you download to this location "{user}\AppData\Local\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VII\Mods" folder

There is a mod manager in development, which apparently already works nicely https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/civmods-civ7-mods-manager-discussion.696844/ . Give it a try .

If that seems intimidating to find, you can open up Run by hitting the windows key and R, and then just type in this:

%localappdata%

And it'll take you to the local app data folder, from there you just need to navigate to Firaxis Game -> Civ 7 -> Mods

(all of this is assuming windows, let us know if you're on a different operating system)

THANK YOU!!! I have been trying to figure this out all day! Like the person that originally posted this question - I am a PC noob in that I don't know much about the inner workings of a PC or files - I unhid the files, was able to find the Civ7 file and my mods are firing now! This should be posted on the Download page as general instructions (IMHO). Thanks again!
