PCGamer has released an article called "Sid Meier was apparently baffled by the decision to launch Civilization 5 without Genghis Khan: 'Sid said, What?' ".
The article comes as an reaction to the recent Civ7 reveal, and PCGamer talked with Firaxis about the new Civ7 leaders and civs.
And it seems that Sid is a fan of Genghis, and was apparently upset that he wasn't in the base game.

The article itself doesn't really provide much other information, but I like this little detail :).

It's worth noting that that article's headline, and most or all of its quotes (I checked several), are sourced from the interview in this article: https://gamerant.com/civilization-7-new-features-leaders-crisis-units/

I know that GameRant has been rather unreliable with its wild speculations in the past, but it appears they actually did the work this time around. Though there are a few unique details in the PC Gamer article, like the note about the Gandhi statue in the Firaxis office, and the link to their article about Sid's computer from Civ I development.
