Crossbowman Entry - "The crossbow was the preferred weapon of the peasants in the First Rebellion. The weapon is fairly simple to produce in bulk and frighteningly effective at piercing armour, which meant that the peasants finally could take up the fight with the knights and men-at-arms that made up the fist of the Royalist armies. The mechanism is simple: a winch tightens the bow to a tautness that is practically unachievable by muscle power alone. The projectile is a small bolt, rather like a truncated arrow. The result is a weapon that fires straight and true with little effort and with little training required."

Does anyone know what empire this rebellion occured in? I am assuming Patria but may be mistaken. Also, it calls it the First Rebellion so that denotes that there was at least a Second Rebellion. How many were there?

The entry for feudualism also mentions the first rebellion, or more specifically, a leader of the first rebellion.

I think I might have seen the name mentioned there in another entry, I'll try looking around.

edit: I did a search and the great rebellions is also mentioned in the knights entry.

AFAIK the design team has been oddly reluctant to talk about the First and Second Rebellions...... which is quite annoying.

They could be mum because it is a scenario, like Rosier the Fallen, or it could be when they were writing things that aren't part of the history, like the Thraxian empire and the fall of the Blue dragon. That sentence is all there is to that story, it could be the same with the Rebellions

In honesty, the Rebellions are a hangover from FfH 1. But I would like to get around to writing them in to the canon someday. I find they delight the imagination.

Well the rebellions would have to of taken place in the age of magic since i dont think there were any real empires during the age of dragons or ice and it sounds like it is old history so it couldnt be the age of rebirth. that doesnt mean, however, that since there really isnt any info on them that they couldnt be made into an event series. possibley even sparking into some sort of civil war if not suppressed.

I would imagine it was in Patria, the first Civilization of Man.

First Rebellion is against Kylorin after Ceridwen takes control of him. Result is him taking on the 21 students.

Second Rebellion is led by Kylorin against the 21. Result is the fall of Patria and fracturing of Man into many Civilizations

well the crossbowman and feudalism pedia entries mentions the First Rebellion and the knights entry mentions the Great Rebellion. Is the great rebellion the same as the Second Rebellion?

No, the Great Rebellion would have to be the First. The Second Rebellion, while certainly decent by all means, could never live up to the hype surrounding it, and many people thought it was just a cheap excuse to cash in on the success of the First Rebellion.

On a more serious note, my guess would be that the Great Rebellion came first, if only because it needed a name before the Second Rebellion. It's much like how World War I was known as "The Great War" before World War II.

well i thought the second one would be called the Great Rebellion since i thought it was successful. If i just won a rebellion i would think that was pretty great.

A rebellion is generally not successful. If a Rebellion is successful, it quickly gets called a Revolution.

And on that note:
"Why doth treason never prosper? For if it doth prosper, none dare call it treason!" -- Ovid

As for the Great Rebellion & Second Rebellion, yes, please do try to write them into the canon. A fantasy world is more interesting in proportion to the amount of backstory and history it posesses.

I'm interested in FFH 1. Is there a best version? Is there a good place to download it from? Is it impossible to have both FFH 2 and FFH 1 on one system?

0.23 is available in any of the main download threads. And yes you can have both on your system without problems (FfH1 will install under Civilization IV/Mods/ and FfH2 will install under Civilization IV/Beyond the Sword/Mods/).
