Peloponnesian War Scenario Development Thread

by buildable helot are you referring to the armed helot or actual worker-like units?

both...:)

Agreed on the helot resource, however I do worry that the AI may not be able to handle attacking the human player, while keeping its helot resource and wheat resource, etc, etc...all under control. But you never know. :shrugs:

When xen finishes the map. Of course, it won't have alot of units, but we can substitute.:)

Btw, how many troops will one unit represent? For example 1 hoplite= 200 men and so on. :)

Edit: How did I double post? Oh well, my first one.

Triple post ;)

If I were you, I wouldn't make it represent anything specific. Too much of a headache for little reason. Make stats and cost reflect balance, not realism.

_Philospher_, it takes a certain level of skill to triple post :D Don't worry about what each unit represents. Most people don't even know with any degree of certainty what the units in Civ 3 represent beyond their name.

One the 'Helot' resource, if you put it under the city of Messenia (or whatever its called) or under a fortress, the AI should be able to defend it somewhat better, especially if you give it a good defensive unit. You'd then only need worry about them securing surplus wheat.

That's a wonderful point, Mongoloid! And in fact, we don't have to work hard, either. We could just give it a random icon or such...Xen- I just read on the Civfanatica region messages that you don't have alot of time to do stuff. Why don'tcha just send the map to me or Kryten, and we can pick it up until you have enough time?:)

EEK!

Not me....please....I've got far, Far, FAR too much work just making the units! :suicide:

o-...Well, Xen, just send it ta me if it's too much work for ya!:)

While we patiently wait for the map/units, I say we reopen the wonder topic. What we need to debate/contemplate are the effects of these wonders. Here's an earlier list:

Great Theater (15,000 people is impressive for a theater!)
Oracle of Dodona (Only if Dodona is on the map)
Oracle of Delphi (It'll save us time so we don't have to make a Pythian Games wonder)
Citadel of Acrocorinthus
Temple of Zeus
Olympic Games
Spartan Military Code
Temple of Hera
Temple of Athena
Long Walls of Piraeus
Acropolis
Temple of Dionysus
Mines of Amphipolis
Marble Quarries of Thasos
Great Port of Byzantium (It being called Golden Horn will be decided later)
Poetry of Sappho
Delian Treasury
Great Harbor
Spartan Defense
Council of Ephors

Sorry if I don't throw in too many suggestions...

Olympic Games-Reduce war weariness? They did stop wars in Greece for the olympic games. Make 2 citizens happy in that city? Maybe a stadium of sorts in every city?

Spartan Military Code- Increased chance of great leader? Maybe a barrack/garrison in every city?

Long Walls- Increase city defense in every city.

Delian Treasury- Same effects as Stock Market.

Great Harbor-Harbor or Naval Yard/Wharf/whatever in ever city.

Mines of Amphipolis- Iron works type of effect in that city?

Again, sorry if dosn't help much

How about having the Spartan Military Code enhance the chances of MGLs appearing, and allow no-one else a such wonder?

The Long Walls, assuming we does keep it as a Wonder, should simply give a hefty defense bonus to the city it's in.

Someone suggested the Treasure of the Delian League has a Wall Street effect. I rather like that.

Remind me: what did they mine in Amphipolis? If gold/silver, it could be increase commerce, if iron/copper, production.

I love these ideas! Kryten- What exactly did they mine in Amphipolis???
