Kryten, how go those units? Can ya put up a preview, perhaps?
A very good question.

Very well. Here is a preview of
20 (

) new Hoplite units which I shall be posting in the next few days.

Why so many? Well, when I eventually get round to converting them to Multi-Figure versions, I'm going to need lots of variation as there will be six different hoplites in each unit. After all, apart from the Spartans & Thebans, who wore uniforms and national emblems, every other Hoplite in the ancent world wore exactly what they liked.
Now some of the shield emblems are not in civ colours, some look better on a dark background, and others on a light background. So I have made this chart with the units at their 'in-game' sizes so that you can choose which ones look best when assigned a civ colour.
* Units with vertical spears are based on the Civ3 Hoplite, while those with diagonal spears are base on the Spearman.
* All tunics are in civ colours, with the exception of the Latin/Roman Hoplite, which is always red.
* The Etruscan Hoplite's helmet plume goes
across the helmet instead of front-to-back, much like a Roman centurion's.
(Which is where the Romans got the idea from in the first place)
* The three 'draftable' units at the bottom have cheap state issue helmets & shields, and represent poorer class citizens being enrolled into the army in order to make up the numbers.
Note: all names are totally and completely arbitrary.
I strongly urge you to consider re-naming them, depending on their use.
(I'm also knocking out 4 'Heavy Horsemen'....nothing fancy, just the Civ3 Horseman with Hoplite type helmets, no shields, and a couple of them with cloaks)
