good job Mach

this is the home stretch, if we are going to get beat it is right here, but if we get internet, prebuild for SS parts and manage the resources we should not have problems, unless we lose the UN to someone else and they pull out a diplomatic, the answer to that, although it hurts our income & possible resource imports is world war, i hope it doesnt come to that. if we do build the UN what are your thoughts on holding vote, i think we shouldn't.

No way, everyone hates us but the Germans. Without looking, I think our opponent would be Egypt. I haven't kept track of their relations...

The UN is preventative only. For military I would start building air units only. Fighters to scout the nearby waters and bombers to sink anything coming our way. But once we get Internet this should be won.

My thoughts exactly. By the way, I just realized I had 5 cities on battleship -- I had put them on that when the oil deal expired, to stretch it. Feel free to switch some of these to flying machines.

:wallbash: Didn't realize I was up. OK, will play tonight.

I thought that might be the case since you posted earlier better never gave an official got it and then didnt post for a couple days.

Not much happened during my turns. We got computers and started mini. I got some of our cities building labs to speed up research time.

Trades--to India, I traded Computers for 2 luxes, gpt, Rockets and Eco. I also traded computers to Germany for a ton of money since they were the richest rival.

Later, our deal for 3 of Mongol's luxes came up. I gave them Eco for the 3 luxes, they had no money. We were still up computers on them.

The Palace prebuild is for the Internet. Another city is working on SETI--might not get that one, but no biggie. Internet is THE PRIZE.

Upgraded infantry to mechs and guerillas to TOW. Switched some of our port cities to carriers just in case we need to bombard enemy capitals.

okay, I've got it & hope to play today

Pre-Flight

We will have Interenet in 9 turns, so, changed several research lab builds to ships of assorted kinds - battleships, destroyer, carrier (it would be nice to get a good navy so we can keep an eye out on our seas), was going to change iron works again to something else, but decided to let that go, changed stock exchange & bank in Sulicis & Rusicade to cruise missile & destroyer (Sulcis only has 2 shields)

Trades:

Babylon - Computers for 259 G, 232 GPT
Egypt - Computers for 534 G, 105 GPT
England - Ecology for 72 GPT

Spies - hesitated to try to plant in Babylon, if caught they are already furious, also some annoyed civs with more military might or equal are also a risk, so I managed the following:

Babylon - no attempt
India - 108 G - failed
England - 159 G - spy planted
Egypt - 147 G - spy planted
Germany - 120 G - failed
Mongols - 183 G - failed

I - Carthage - battleship - destroyer; 1 Barcelona - destroyer - destroyer; Sabratha - bomber - airport; Nora - carrier - carrier

1 - 1752 - renogotiate spices with India for 48 gpt (up from 42); found 3 infantry not yet upgraded so upgraded them to mech inf; Egypts Army looks impressive - 137 infantry, a decent navy, & several cruise missiles, should they ever get the cahs for upgrades they would be a monster; Englands military looks pathetic. In an effort to improve relations with Babylon renegotiate peace striaght up, they are still furious

spy update:

Babylon - spy planted
India - failed
Germany - failed
Mongols - no attempt

I mistakenly selected the Babylons, but we got the spy, I then lost my nerve against the Mongols because they are annoyed & stronger than us militarily and we are dependent upon them for several luxuries. 2 fails against India & 2 fails against Germany.

I - L.Minor - battleship - destroyer (hit by pollution), Oea - carrier - carrier, Russicade - bomber - bomber, Saldae - jet fighter - airport; Indians are building UN (30 turns), they have discovered fission

2 - 1754 - clean up pollution, no spy attempts, move ships around for sea patrol

3 - 1756 - Mini in 1 turn, MM to max gpt

I - Cadiz - carrier - battleship; learn mini - space flight

4 - 1758 - Git 100 gold to Mongols, get attitude benefit to cautious, trade Computers to Mongols for 236 G, 87 GPT (gets our 100 G back); trade mini to India for Fission, 1260 G, 120 gpt;

we do not have uranium, after scanning the map, babylon & england will both have 2 sources, as India already does, but we are already depending upon India for oil

gift 100 g to Babylon, get attitude benefit, furious to annoyed, trade Fission to Babylon for Dyes, 106 g, 76 gpt (gets our 100 g back)

trade fission to Egypt for 60 g, 106 gpt, trade fission to Germany for 57 G, 53 gpt

note i also throw win World Map on all trades so we can keep an updated view of their territory

change production in utica from palace to internet, in Hippo from SETI to UN

I - Carthage - destroyer - battleship, Cirta - carrier - destroyer

5 - 1760 - Egypt has learned Space Flight, change research to Nuclear power (i estimated that is the tech least likely to be researched by AI, only 1 turn wasted on Space Flight); trade fission to Mongols for 56 g, 44 gpt; trade mini to Babylon for uranium, 24 g, 29 gpt

UN builds:

India (30 turns previously) 27 turns
Germany - 50 turns
Babylon - 37 turns
Egypt - 9 turns
Us - 8 turns (hold your breath)

I - L.Magna - destroyer - worker, THeveste - mass transportation - airport, Sabratha - mass transportation - airport;

A new Uranium reosurce appears in mountains north of Hippo, so we now have uranium & dont have to worry about trading for it once the current deal expires, unless it disappears

Oil deal expires & we have nothing to trade fo roil except for gold, they want a lot so I decline to make a trade. this is not a big deal to me, once we have a tech we can get the oil both egypt & India have excess oil, it will always be available, had India not had space flight i would have waited to trade mini so as to renew the oil deal

6 - 1762 -

I - 1 Barcelona - destroyer - nuclear sub, Saldae - airport - mobile sam; England build UN (19 turns)

7 - 1764 - trade Rocketry to English for 57 g, 31 gpt; trade mini to germany for 68 g, 38 gpt

spy attmepts:

India - spy planted
Mongols - failed
Germany - failed

I - Utica - Internet - Army (once we get Nuclear power and trade for Space Flight prehaps we canb change this to Apollo Program), L. Magna - worker - offshore platform, L. Minor - destroyer - offshore platform, Oea - carrier - offshore platform, Nora - carrier - offshore platform; Bayblon building UN (17 turns)

8 - 1766 - worker built by L.Magna added to Cirta; spy attempts fail in germany / mongols

I - Cadiz - battleship - offshore platform; Mongols building UN (42 turns)

9 - 1768 - babylon has synthetic fibers; gift 100 gold to Mongols, trade Mongols mini for 123 g (getting our 100 g back), 29 gpt

I - Saldae - mobile sam - mobile sam, cirta - destroyer - offshore platform

10 - 1770 -

our UN seems secure, egpyt the closeest build is still one turn behind us and we only need 3 turns, I roobeed the iron hills from Sabratha during this build so that city is now starving, once UN is built maybe the citizen in Hippo should be taken off the iron & the one from Sabratha put back on to balance things back out

once we discover Nuclear Power we should be able to trade for Space Flight & Synthetic Fibers plus get our oil back using either India or Egypt, which means it is time to start building spaceship parts

several civs are building the Manhattan Project, when it is completed we might want some ICBMs

We are magnificent. :) Nice game everybody! Thanks to all, especially pred for sponsoring the game, and elma for teaching us to ICS (and for doing the bulk of the work... :) ) Here's the final save.

Good job to everyone, my only regret is missing a good portion of the game. I think this is one we can be proud of considering our start.

Much thanks for everyone's participation.

I hate to single anyone out and spurn other's, but Elmarae's ICS work I am sure went a long way towards helping our industrial age dominance.

Now that the game is over, I am curious to know if we could have pulled out a diplomatic. I think I will load my last save because it was near UN build and then make some deals and hold a vote to see. I hope this does not offend anyone, it in no way taints the Space Race win, IMHO, I am just curious. I will post the results when I get around to it, prolly this weekend.
