Do u guys know abt the game hearts of iron 2. Well check it out
The most perfect strtegy game should have the economic depth of civ 3 with the military depth of hearts of iron 2 .

It would be the most perfect strategy game

And what research system should it have? I liked Master of Orion for that.

The research depth of Hearts of iron 2 also bcos theres so much to research in hoi 2.Hearts of iron 2 researching also makes a lot of sense.

The prob in civ 3 is that u can lose 10 -15 swordmen to a spearman this aint possible in HOI 2.Its combat is realistic.

I have played, I didn't like it. There's your perfect strategy game.

EU2 beats HoI anywhere, anytime. And Vicky and CK too.

Actually, I wouldn't say that HoI is that in-depth, when it comes to war. It's very much large-scale strategies, and there's little input as to how specific battles play out. The Total War series are probably a better example as to warring - requiring both large scale strategies, as well as specific tactics on the battlefield.

And the research tree in HoI2 is far less 'in-depth' as even the original HoI, in which you could essentially customise the sort of weapons and armour your tanks/ships/troops were using. In HoI2, it's a very specific 'research this tech for this unit.'

I AM TALKING ABT HOI 2 .Thers a lot of diff. frm HOI and HOI 2.Theres no game in the world who can match the military strategies and realism involved in HOI.
If u dont like it fine.Any way who cares abt what u think any way. There r several others in this forum who can give a proper feedback.
Next time u rite something to sombody pls mind ur words.

Well sorry if I forgot to add 2 after HoI. And the greatness of HoI2 is only your opinion, not the universal truth.

There r several people who love HOI 2. It doen,t need to be a universal truth.
U just goota accept the fact it is a cool game, if not for u others at least.

Why must he accept it? It is his opinion just in the same way that you are of the opinion that it is a cool game.

I love HoI2 but if I was making a game combining certain aspects of games I'm going to agree with Kan and would choose the military depth of one of the later Total War Games. However that isn't to take away from just how enjoyable HoI2 is heh (despite my continous failed attempts to keep Norway at the start of the war :( )

Ur rite it his opinion.I got a little out of hand frm his seemingly rude words. If he doesn,t likeit all he has to do is to say it properly. Other than being rude. The probs with total war type games is that the maps have to remain small due to the graphics and terrian which will have to be put in each and every terrain square or what ever(u know). The game will be limited to few maps.
There definitly wont be random map games or user created cutom maps which can make a game more interesting than being stuck to the same map all the time. Not that they r bad but i dont the total war idea may work properly.

I think these r the features that a good strat game should have.U can add or edit these if u like.

1.Should be using the economics sys of civ 3 and troy together. If there is extra food in one city it should be transported to the other city(things like this).
2.The logistical sys of HOI2.
3.The military depth of HOI2
4.The research sys in which u can customize units,War Games etc.. need a better idea.
There r more u can if u want.
just start frm the 5th one.

I'm fairly certain Hitti was doing some light-hearted ribbing, rather than being rude.

As for your suggestions, again I'll say that HoI2 is exceptionally abstract when it comes to trade, logistics and military depth. There's nothing in-depth about logistics in HoI2, other than making sure you don't go above a certain number. I've already said what I think about the military system.

I don't know about the economical system in Troy, and I'm not a Civ3 player. I don't recall it being something you had to pay attention to. Victoria requires a little bit more care in your economy and trade though.

Customisable units and a large technology screen is always fun though - I like being forced to pick and choose stuff in a game, with the possibility I may never be able to get everything.

People think that I'm a good person! :smug:

:p

Maybe the problem for me with HoI2 was that it didn't look as good as other Paradox games, and I didn't bother to really get into it. But it's uninstalled, and I... ummm... don't know where my copy is. Though I have never seen it. So how could I have played it? :p

For me the looks dont matter.I look for a game in which i have to use my brains to win.Thats why i play games like civ 3 and hoi2 .Allways noticed each and evry strat game will allways have a weakness of a sort.

Civ 3 military is a bit odd tank losing to spearman.1 warrier wining against 4 swordsmen or HOI 2 with limited economy and research. I allways wanted a full fledged strat game with detailed economy, military,Diplomacy,Espinage etc etc etc. R there any games like that in the mrkt.

If you mean graphically wise, I feel they all look pretty much the same. Gameplay wise, I think each Paradox game requires a little bit of interest in the time period, not to mention that HoI is first and foremost a military game, whereas with EU and Victoria you could play around more with a diplomatic/economy-driven game :)

I meant that the first impression of it wasn't as good. And I prefer to avoid wars in Paradox games, unless war would give me a large benefit. HoI is only about war, in others you can play peacefully and be the best!
